Default G23 muffler fit G38

I have a G23 pitts style smoke muffler and would like to put it on my G38 and thought I would ask before I tear my plane apart to see if it would fit. Does anyone know? Thanks, Larry

Default RE: G23 muffler fit G38

The G38 has an exhaust that mounts in the rear of the engine cylinder. The G23 and G26 exhaust flange is on the side of the cylinder. I think there is just one muffler, made by B&B that is a pitts style, but side mounted on the G23-G26, if the flange dimensions are the same, it might work. Depending on your brand of pitts muffler, the orientation might prevent this from working, without fabrication. Not to mention, the flow of the G23 muffler is designed to be optimal for the displacement, I'd be surprised if the 38 would respond well to the flow provided by the 23 muffler, even if you did fabricate it to fit.
