Seagull Mini Extra 300xs Electric to Glow
Well some of you may remember me buying this thing a year ago. This is the small electric Seagull Extra 300xs. I always wanted to get one of these new electric scales and stick a small glow in it. (I don't do electric.) I actually finished last winter and took it to the field one cold day and could never get it dialed in and was freezing my &^%$ off so I've bagged it until this morning.
So this morning I brought it out along with my P-51. Couple flights on warbird went fine and decided to mess with this Extra again. Now as with many of my planes, this engine is also inverted and the tank was also lowered. I have the OS.15cva and a custom made sportscale type muffler from Jtec with a 4oz Sullivan tank and APC 8/4. Also rebuilt the firewall to accomodate the engine better.
Got it dialed in perfectly and no "inverted issues." Taxied it around and immediately noticed more than enough power and took off. After a few laps, I got it trimmed fairly well but the wind was kicking up a tad but it was trimmed good enough for now.
More than enough power. I would go as far as saying a regular OS .15LA would be fine. This was being here at "altitude, I didn't know how this whole experimant was going to turn out which is why I went with the CVA but everything so far is a big thumbs up if anybody has the urged to try this.
