Default Steam power rc car?

15, maybe 20 years ago one of my friends had this steam power RC car. I don't remember too many details, it looked something like a cross between a steam locomotive and a car. It ran off these white 'fuel pellets', you placed the pellets in the tray, lit them up, made sure the tank had enough water and all that. It might have gone 5, 10mph tops but it sure made a lot of smoke and smelled awful. I was just curious if they still make these things, if so which company; I don't remember a name or anything. Or have they been completely outmoded by internal combustion and now electric rc?

Crabfu, was he the one who had is stem walkers featured in RC Driver? If so, he had some very creative stuff. A tracked steam RC, and walker RCs. Of course, he only did these as custom RCs, he never had any intention to mass produce for sale (at least, I dont think.)

Yep, that's him. A friend of mine plays around with live steam engines, and I showed him crabfu's page. He was floored by what he saw. According to him, it's enough of a pain just to get a free-running locomotive running consistently enough to pull a set of cars around the track he built. It's cool stuff for sure though...

They still sell those pellet driven steam engines. Try doing a google search and you'll find tons of stuff about them and the companies that produce them.
