Default Fantom Engines -- HQ Proves they mean business!

Hey folks, If you read this forum, you'll know Grampi and I have been running FR15's for the last few weeks.

Well, Unfortunatly, Both of us had rather near fatal accidents when the Throttle arm snapped off at WOT sending our rides out of control...

Well, I wrote them a Nice, firm letter, explaining the issue with a more or less "What are you going to do to make me Happy" type ending. Here is how it turned out.

1. All new 03's are now shipping with a plastic arm included so that you change the aluminum one out.

2. They will send you the plastic replacement arm if you have the aluminum arm, just email them your address.

3. They will be posting an update on their www site shortly.

4. They offered to fix any damage to my engine had it of been damaged while it was on it's Mr. Toads Wild Ride...

I'm impressed. I don't think they could have offered a better solution for the situation.

Yeah, the metal one was thin aluminum, which had a weak spot... The plastic one will flex a little, and less likely to SNAP..

well done.

i am going to write a letter to MIP. I plan to tell them my displeasure with a on board temperature gauge i own. I bought one of the original on boards a while back. I just recently (2/21/03) bought a new battery for it. Well, the battery is dead. I am going to send it to MIP and ask them to fix it. Hopefully, its to much trouble and they just send me a new model. Ill keep you guys updated.
Know this, the MIP web sites for tech support.

Man, About 2 weeks ago, The Stinger on my Team AE pipe "Fell Off" more or less... Sent them a email they sent back to me..

"We'll replace it if ther is no wear and tear on the pipe"

Well of course there is, I have been racing it... Scratches and nic's all over it...

For something that costs them about $.50 to make... They should find it in their heart to replace it... They didn't..

Here's my recommendation: throw the plastic and aluminum throttle arms in the trash and install a steel one. Problem solved.

If the problem I am thinking of is right, if you just set your radio so once the carb opens up it doesn't try to open it anymore (end point adjustments) it should be fine. Maybe I am thinking wrong here though.

I don't think that misadjustemnt of endpoints is what's causing these things to break. It's all the jarring the vehicles are subjected to that's breaking them. Like I said, I haven't had problem one since I installed the steel one.

You are correct, The piece is just weak. Mine is adjusted perfectly, and it'l just something that happens..

Wow. That was a very respectable thing for them to do. That really means that they are a good company.

Yeah, I'm very impressed. I really hope that more LHS's start to carry these engines. Other than online sales, I haven't heard much about the engine..

I took mine to my LHS this weekend... people were like... "WHOA! I want one!" The LHS guys were like... Ummmm, well... I guess we can order them????

If you get one get it online, it can be very expensive at a hobby shop. My LHS sells them for 190 dollars, you can get the same one online for 160.

I have heard it is kind of that way. People have said it is un-reliable, but I haven't had any real experience with the engine. I will soon though! ha ha.

If you are talking about the clutch bell bearing than you need to get a new clutch nut (#9369) it cures that problem on the xxxnt. As far as the engine not staying on you want to use loctite (blue stuff) This should solve your problems. Jon
