GSP Edge 540
Ok, I did a search and came up with one thread asking what I need to ask but only had one response. Does anyone have any experience with the GSP Edge 540? Good or bad. I am getting one that has been flown (not abused) from someone moving up to the AW 540 (for the larger elevator and rudder). The plane is in good shape and had a DA100 on it. The price is right and it will be a less expensive way to move up from my G62 powered Giant Stinger. I have flown the AW 540 and liked it very much, but at less than half the price of the AW I'm getting the GSP. ALOT cheaper if it goes in! Any info on this would be helpfull. Thanks.

if u r talking about the 80" one that comes in pink we have one at our club that has been recovered in white corvette scheme. it has a zdz 60 on it and flies like its on rails. I don't think its a 3 d moster but the guy that flies it doesn't care 4 3d anyway......

I have flown the big one and would have purchased it if I had the room. I loved it. Just make sure it is not nose heavy. I also own the smaller one. It flew great but the bigger one is nicer.

Ok, does anybody have any weight figures for this plane? I'm not really liking the numbers for wing loading (38oz per foot at 28lbs). An all up weight without a motor would be greatly appreciated. This way I can figure in the weight of my engine and get some realistic #'s.
Thanks,
Brian

Well I have somes numbers, let me know what you think. All up weight target is 28lbs. Air frame is 15.2lbs leaving 12.8 for motor and gear. Does this sound reasonable? The motor should come in at about 8 to 8.5 lbs (138cc conversion engine). This leaves 4lbs for radio gear. Any suggestions?

I'm considering buying the GSP 540 Edge 103" w/s plane in the ARC, is this plane work the money? Also is the color on the ARF in red and white a good looking plane and if there are pictures can I get some? All comments are needed.

You have to remember that the larger the plane, the more the wing loading rule changes.I have GSP's 96" Katana ARC with a DA100 and it weighs about 28 lbs.(don't have a good scale)I thought it would fly like a tank with wings.Boy was I wrong.Hovers just under 1/2 throttle, pulls off everything I've thrown at it so far.As for landing,we had trouble slowing it down enough to land.It seemed to just want to float.Touches down like it weighs alot less.Yes,lighter is better, especially when it comes to 3D and compitition aerobatics. But not so critical when you get into giant scale. If you don't believe me,just figure the wing loading a full scale aerobatic plane.

RE: GSP Edge 540
I tried to explain this on another thread and even with my flame suit on, I got burnt. You are right. I have seen formulas that calculate that. It is funny take a plane with a 60 inch wing or 100 inch wing and with the same wing loading, will fly a LOT different.
