Upgrading from onboard start to autostart
I ordered the items I need to upgrade my mw54II to full autostart. I should get the items in the next few days. I will be getting instructions with the items, but am wondering what is involved in doing the upgrade. The items are coming from Larry at JHH.

RE: Upgrading from onboard start to autostart
1.remove fadec and attached wire loom.
2.install new fadec
3.install gas & fuel solenoids.
4.install gas metering valve.
5.install new gas bottle.
6.change battery if necessary.
7.plumb the new valves etc.
8.do a fadec relearn on your tx
9.open the gas metering valve just a little bit.
10.start that bad boy up.
I spent a couple of hours changing my MKlll over.

NICE Sounds very easy too.

Take your time and lay everything out first. Deciding on where to put everything is half the work.

RE: Upgrading from onboard start to autostart
So I completed the changeover and set everything up on a test stand. I filled the tanks with fuel and gas and tried a start. Realized I needed to prime the pump! Did that and tried the start. I got a small gas liteoff, but no temp rise and subsequently no fuel ramp. Tried it again, same thing. Then I left the powermax bottle attatched and initiated another start. When the gas lit, I kept my finger on the gas trigger and fed a bit more gas. It ramped up and spooled but never really settled in. There was sporadic bits of flame-not a good stable fuel burn. So I shut her down and did another start. Same fluttering type of burn. Shut it down cuz I gotsta go to work
I am using a small glow fuel type tank with a metal klunk. Could that cause the engine to run that way? Other than that, the changeover was very easy. This is my first turbine, and Im pretty stoked Im close to getting it right.
Any input is greatly appreciated!!!!

RE: Upgrading from onboard start to autostart
I just ran my new Gold 44 for the first time last night.
The only adjustment I had to make was to open the propane valve 1 turn.
I think I moved the factory setting during the installation into the model.
During my first two attempts I never saw the temp rise which indicated to me that
it was not getting enough gas to run on. I opened it 1/2 turn first and then a full turn
and presto it roared to life!
After that every start was perfect and very easy.
BTW if you are using Powermax and starting right from the bottle you want to invert it so
only gas flows no liquid, if you have an onboard gas tank make sure it is vertical.

RE: Upgrading from onboard start to autostart
Sounds good-going to go and start it again right now. Yes, I use powermax and invert the bottle, but I didnt realize the onboard bottle CANT lay on its side.....like I did earlier today. When I go and start it here in a few minutes, Im going to check the whole operation such as move the throttle, check idle speed, check full power etc.......
Thank you for your input-
