Default BP 2197 or 2380

I have been reading some past threads about this. I am just curious if one has been established as a better oil for our uses. I was all set to get some 2197 when I saw a year old thread where Sean bought a case, then I found a more recent thread where he went back to 2380.

Any input is appreciated.

What does your turbine mfr recommend? I've been using 2380 with great results....

I've been running 2380 since I started messing around with KJ66's in 2000. I’ve lost count of how many cans now. I've also tried a can or 2 of the Aeroshell 500 when I ran low on 2380, but its far too little and too recent to expect any change in reliability. The only thing that made me choose 2380 over Aeroshell was the number of warnings on the Aeroshell label. Whether or not that means that shell is more hazardous, or maybe the 2380 is less detailed, who knows. I'm sure all of these oils are bad for us to be breathing in so I just try to stay clear of exhaust stink or hold my breath a bit when necessary...

The last comment I'll make is the colour of mixed fuel. When I mix 2380 into fuel and keep it in a properly sealed blue Jerry can, it'll last for years with minimal algae growth.

Kelly
