Default Supercharger nitrous system

I've always heard this system is a waste of money and possibly trouble for your engine, and believe I have no intention of getting one. However, I must admit I'm intriged by the concept. Has anyone ever owned one or truly know someone who has? What kind of performance increase (or decrease) did you see? Engine problems? Does anyone know of other systems along these lines other than the RB products?

SavageonNOS - In the HPI forum has a system, give him a pm. Most people who say stuff about nitrous have never owned one, but out of the few who do, they like the system[8D]

And they like taking away life from their engine [:'(] may sound cool but if you really look at it and what it does its not great its bad

the only reason it would hurt the engine is due to the increase in power, and for most people, it's not that big of a deal. it's just like putting on a tuned pipe, and using 30% nitro.

I think that having a supercharger or a NoS kit gives the owner bragging rights. The OoOoOoOoOooooo factor at the track or even at the park or campground is what those kits give. Yea, they're cool lookin' an stuff, but functionality is another animal.

nos system can and do work on RC engines, but they will kill yoru engine very quickly because they lean the engine right out, you add nitrous, which means you add oxygen, but you dont add mroe fuel, more oxygen to the same amount of fuel leans the engine to beyond overheat and burning oil stage, which is not good.

Why wouldnt you just richen it up. Thats what 1-1 cars do to save there motor. Add more fuel. My bud has a GTO spraying 250 shot 630hp to the ground and he races every Thur. at the track. It will evetualy let go but he has been doing it for 6months now.

Ill post a vid of the GTO on the Dyno tomorrow. I forgot my camera today.

to have it so that the engine is running correctly on nitrous, the engine would barely run at all without it, it's more practical and more effective to run 30% nitro and a good tune all the time, remember that nitrous has 33% more oxygen then air, that means 33% more fuel, at least, if not more, nitrous systems are simply impractical for a hand tuned engines.

full sized engines take advantage of the cars ECU to adjust the amount of fuel being delivered, when nitrous is used the ECU uses another fuel mapping plot to allow more fuel to be used then without nitrous, hence the reason one of the best upgrades for a nitrous burning car is larger capacity injectors.

Yeah, as I said in my original post, I have no intention of getting one, just interested in the idea.

The Horns play the Owls, today, 22 SEP at 6PM. I hope they totally kick the ____ out of them! The past few games have been a dissapointment. Much like the massive gains promised by the RB Innovations supercharger, the UT hype this year has been just as disappointing. I hate to say it, nitrous on RC engines will not be good on an engine either. You might see some explosive Vince Young performance out of your engine as you dump a shot into it, but as ttoks said, it is not good for a nito engine. Fore a full sized Poncho "Goat," yes, the Goat will take it because I bet the pncho has a 350ci (or is it 355ci?) Poncho big block made of cast iron or heavy duty automotive massive alum heads that have the material mass to withstand the combustion of a nitrous shot charge.

I must tell you if you ever want to even try supercharging: Do Not Buy RB Innovations! Even if superchargers work on RC 2strokes, the RB Innovations is not a real supercharger. It is only a floppy fan inside a milled alum case. Even a 4-stroke will not see much performance from the RB Innovations toy; it WILL NOT provide the proper boost increase. Instead, try to get a spercharger from an OS 4-stroke model engine. This is a better designed supercharger that actually works. (However, just as the link ttoks linked, ANY foeced induction on a 2-stroke will not work. Any power increase seen from forcing the induction into a 2-stroke RC engine is because the charger is LEANING the charger, not actually forcing more into the cylinder.)

I bought a supercharger for the hell of it and you can never get the belt to hold on the flywheel, it always vibrates off of it![&o] I could never get it to work right[:@]

You bought the RB Innovations supercharger. Yes, that rubberband is a poor design. They should have designed a proper bely to mechanically power the blower. They should have also used a roots/lysolm,whipple sompressor design or maybe a centrifugal design. But they didnt. That is why that thing is only a toy and not a functional device.

If I were you and that curious, I would not buy a brand new RB Innovations anything. Instead, go to an auction site (like here in RCU, or ebay, or whereever), find an RB Innovations NOS someone does not want, and give that a try. It will be much cheapor used and you will not bear to lose much thanif you bought it brand new from RB Innovations.

nos on a nitro burning rc engine...why not just make the nitro % higher? either way itll probly add more wear and tear to the engine

as far as the supercharger, how in the hell is a fan and a rubberband going to help a 2 stroke motor? its not because the intake adn exhasut ports are open at the same time, if it does build any boost it goes right out the exhasut pipe, along with more unburnt fuel.
