Default TRITON CHARGER QUESTION

I just brought a trition charger with a eqinox balancer. I know this is primarily a field charger, but my LHS said that if I brought AC POWER cord that I could use it at home to charge my batteries. Heres my problemi-where the heck am I supposed to plug the AC/DC power cord at. Were they lying to me????

Yep! They lied to you, or made a very uninformed statement. The Triton chargers require a 12v DC power source. You can modify a PC power supply or find a decent regulated power supply. I found a Cosel K150AU-12 13amp power supply on Ebay for $23 a few years ago. I run two Tritons and a PolyCharge4 off of it.

Make sure you get a power supply that can push the number of amps you need to charge your batteries. Normally, AC Adapters that plug in the wall don't have enough. I'm using an MPI MX-8210 (http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-9.html) - 9amp continuous. I think I paid about $50.00 at LHS. You'll need to either buy a power cord or chop one off an old lamp or something.

Remember, LiPo's can burn your house down. Change them safely.

My Tritons came with spring clips on the ends of the wires. I removed them and installed banana plugs for use with my charge case.

We would need to see some photos or model numbers. You have a Triton charger with an Eqinox balancer and a __?__ power supply. Where did you order it from? The Triton should have two large spring loaded clips that could clip around a battery terminal. Some power supplies might have these type of terminals (usually marked with a +/-), little screw posts (also marked +/-) or red and black round sockets to fit banana plugs into. If the supply you got has these holes, you'll need to make up something to work with it. A block of wood with two bolts, two strips of wire and two banana plugs may very well work for what you need.

I have used a Triton for years. It is a great charger because it tells me how many MAh have been added. Great for identifying problematic batteries.
My 12V power supply was purchased from Fry's Electronics (www.outpost.com) for $29.95.
