Default Dumb question

I've got a Trex 450 S on the way and I've been flying the Blade CP for about 6 months now. Does the receiver on the trex models require the radio system battery or does the main battery for the heli provide power to the receiver? Thanks for the input.

Default RE: Dumb question

The Electronic Speed Control (ESC) usually includes a Battery Elimination Circuit (BEC) that uses power from the flight battery to power the receiver and any attached electronics.

The lipo battery from your heli wil provide the necessary power. You only need the receiver battery when setting up your heli with the motor disconnected. Hope this helps

can't you just unplug the motor wires to the esc? I've never needed a reciever pack.

Sure you can, you just can't program the esc that way as the motor is what actually beeps.

FWIW I use an old reciever pack to setup mine right up till I'm ready to program the speed controller.
