carb and white grease
When assembling a carb I usually put white distributor cam grease in the rotating carb barrel grove. A while back a big dab was put in the grove thinking fuel would dissolve the excess. A month and several dead sticks later most of the big dab was found in the fish eye.
Now a little white grease is put on the spigot to prevent air leaks.

RE: carb and white grease
The best stuff I have found for this purpose is "High Temp Silicon Vaccum Grease". Hard stuff to find, but worth the effort. It'll smooth out the barrel rotation while eliminating possible air leaks. This grease stays put. I found a tube of this at a bearing house. It's made by DOW.
