Default On board Temp reading?

Instead of using a temp gun, how do on-board temp monitors work? I am looking at this- http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHUH2&P=0
I don't see a problem with it but I am afraid that something will melt. Thanks for any info

nothing will melt, you just loop the sensor around the bottom fin on the head away from the exhaust. those temp gauges work great, and they keep you from carrying around one in your pocket or tool box

But they limit you to one vehicle. So, if your like me and have several, they don't help much or are very expensive to get one for everything I want/need a temp on.
I've also heard that they can be less accurate but no personal experence there.
Anyway, I prefer the handhed ones.

I sure like the one on my React! Push one button and at the glance of the screen on my TX I know the temperature. Have checked it with high dollar temp guns and has all ways been with in 10 degrees or less. Yes I have to buy sensors for each vehicle but the convince is well worth the $20 a piece. But I still have a temp gun as well.

You all so can get a speedometer sensor. I have had a few problems with my React but they did make it good. If I do not have any more I will be happy with it. Futaba is coming out with the 4PK but have not released all the information yet.

I might need to pick up one of those "high end" radios in the future. I am just a basher so I haven't really needed a lot of the functions (I wish one of my radios at least had EPA/ I need it[&o]) they have/offer. Maybe I will get a Spectrum DX2..

I picked up my React for $229 shipped with a free temperature sensor.
