Default TM523 or OS .18TM for Revo?

I was wondering, just because I've been told that both are good for the Revo, but which would bring the most top speed, stock?

Also, if maybe some upgrades would make one motor faster than the other, which upgrades would be needed, and which would go faster?

as far as your engine ? the 523 will smoke the o.s.,as far as up grades just do them as you tear stuff up,yhe revo is pretty stout and can handle either of those engines

Well, I mean, like diffs and such to make the engines get higher top end.

Your question may be moot. The .18TM is discontinued and is getting to be very hard to find.

But as was said, the Revo drive train is pretty tough. Put either engine in and fix stuff if/when it breaks. People worry too much about what might happen. Heck, even the stock engines might (and do) strip gears.

Just putting one of those engines in will dramatically increase speed. It only makes sense that the RB will out run the TM it does have 5cc more displacement after all. About the only things you can change to increase speed on the truck are the spur/CB and maybe the transmission gearing. But anything you do to gain top speed will adversely affect the hole shot/low end.

When you say "smoke", what exactly do you mean? Straight line run? On a track? Pretty gutzy making a call like that. On an off road track, some guy showed up at one of our races with an 18TM powered REVO and "smoked" all the Traxxas .20's. So the driver and truck set up has a little (a lot) to do with it.

Also if I remember right the 523 is a bb and the 18tm will turn out faster RPM's and be better for the track IMO. I use the 18tm and I can take on the bb maxx's and a couple of the revo guys at my track run .28 axials and I can get them everywhere on the track if my truck is setup right. just my 2cents,bigger isn't always better.....

the RB will out turn the .18 by a very fair margin, it is designed for performance, stock gearing with the 523 will get you around 47-49 MPH, so it's turning very fast to get that, an unmodified .18 looks like a sport engine next to the RB.

Ran this RB523 stock pipe truck last nite and local cop clocked it at 52mph..17/36 gear`s running (PHAT) on 20% fuel & still not broken in..! That`s FAST for a Revo if ya ask me..! Plan on a 20/34 gear when done with the break-in.

I don`t race anymore so I`m alway`s making everything I own go as fast as I can. Cuz that`s how I ROLL ! lol

The 523 is considered a mid-block engine. It has a big block displacement but a small block crankcase. The are not many engines that fit the mid-block category. The only ones I can think of right off are the 2 RB engines, the Picco .26Maxx and the new OS.21TM.

imho, the 523 is the best engine you can put in a un converted revo or t-maxx,i run the 523 in a t-maxx,and a 323 in a revo,as ttoks said these engines were made for one reason only,to perform,i would dare say,i would put either of these setups up against a b.b. monster truck, and give them a solid run for their money,

I believe that it will fit either the Maxx or the Revo. The engine comes with a mount and a tuned pipe so you should not need anything else because all the clutch and starting stuff from the Traxxas engines will fit the RB. Maybe somebody can confirm or clarify if I'm not 100%

I would`nt run any new mill hard un-less I thought it was ready...when I made that pass the motor had close to 3/4 gal. through it...And I was still at 4.25 turn`s out ...so it was`nt that big a deal..I also lifted because I ran out of room...! So I know there`s more in this 523..That put a smile on my face...I usually run a gal or so through my new motor`s and then start leaning on them...Appreciate the concern !

people have mounted the sirio .23 in the jato, the RB Tm323 is based on the sirio, and the 523 is based off of the 323, so i would assume you could mount the RB in a jato.
