Default motor ratings

I see that a lot of electric motors (such as the permax 400/4d, Dynamyte 9200kv etc.) have a 10 cell (12v) raing. I am using only nimh and nicad batteries and I am wondering what is stopping my from running 12 cells on a motor rated at 10 cells. Is it just the motor gets too hot? I could easily put a fan and heatsink on the motor. I plan on using the permax and quark 33a pro car esc on my recoil. Can I use 12 cells?

Pretty much heat, yeah. If it's brushed (at 10 cells it probably isn't), you're going to go through brushes REALLY fast.
