Default obtaining coroplast

Am I looking in the wrong places for coroplast? A local sign shop said the pieces I need (up to 13" x 48") are too big for scrap, and sent me to his supplier. The supplier has only 4mm sheets and I must buy it in 4' by 8' sheets! Where do people find 2mm coro, and what kind of places will sell less than full sheets? I'm in South Portland, Maine.

Corroplast!!!

Try hardware stores or building supplies outlets; they do have it in their "for Rent" or "For Sales" signs dept. Thjey may have it elsewhere.
I pick mine up from elections posters ...of course, after the elections are over. Call the party office and they should be glad to let you have this stuff.

Activity or promotional posters by the road side are often to be had for the asking once their usefullness is over.

Just a few suggedtions.

Arts and Craft stores sell it in 1' x 2' sections. I get mine at the local Hobby Lobby (no, not the RC Hobby Lobby - the other "Hobby Lobby").

I had never heard of "Coroplast" but I think I know what this material is - especially when you talk about "election posters", "For Rent" and "For Sale" signs - I'm assuming you mean the thin (but stiff) plastic stuff. But what can you do with it? Can you use it for vacuum forming? Can it be painted like other vacuum formed plastics?

It is used to make SPAD planes www.spadtothebone.com or www.spadworld.net ,very fun to build and experiment with. I get my coroplast from the local Coke plant, they use it for advertising. It comes in 48"x32" sheets. I have built about 15 SPAD's so far from the various Coke brand product signs.

FrankM,
I made friends with a convenience store owner in a small town. She gave me 15 to 20, 36 x 48 sheets (Coke, Dr Pepper, Sprite signs) for free when she updated the sales. Free is alway's better, and she updates more frequently than the politicians.

Coroplast is basically plastic corregated cardboard. I doubt it can be vacuformed but it can be painted.

"Coroplast is basically plastic corregated cardboard."

Nope - it isn't what I thought it was. What I'm thinking of does not have a corrugated center. But I have seen "For Rent" and "For Sale" (and other) signs you can buy that are on a thin, stiff plastic. But they are not corrugated.
