what is this strange plane?
I got this at a swap meet and need info. It looks like it is made from some kind of paper stuff. Has any body seen one of these and will it fly. I plan to try it with an old O S 15. It has no rudder control. Ailerons only. Wingspan 29 body length 30 Any info? Thanks Lou

By the looks of the color scheme and you saying its made from some "paper stuff",I'd say its some type of Late Japanese WWII prototype that never got a chance to see action!

The logo on the wing says FoldingFlyer
A Google search turned up http://www.eam.net/folding.htm but the page is messed up.

The description on that web site sounds like what i have. They called for a speed 400 electric so my os 15 should pull it around good. No pictures transmit on that web site but i am sure that is the weird plane sitting on my work bench. It is called folding flyer and may fold on first flight. Thanks for the lead. At least i did not have to by any Jap decals. LOU

This is the only picture that shows in the wayback machine for that website.
It definitely is that plane.

RE: what is this strange plane?
I finally got the Folding Flyer flying. Does pretty well with O S 15. The paperboard material is pretty durable as i had a few mishaps. The plane was real sensitive to aileron control so i trimed some off at tips. This is the first plane i ever had that could be redisigned with a pair of scissors. Has anyone ever flown one of these paperboard terrors? Lou

These were sold by Norvel, 3 for so much money. I haven't thought about these for years and find I have a couple of them stashed in the cellar. I think I gave one away.

RE: what is this strange plane?
Hey this paper plane stuff is interesting. This is the first paper airplane i have flown since the 6th grade. Maybe SPAD really means simple paper airplane design. I found a piece of sturdy board (see pic) and will find out how sturdy it really is in test flights. Traced outlines and since the original plane is old and probably close to it expiration date it can not last much longer. LOU
