Default g-23 carb problems

breaking in new rebuilt 23. ran like a top,then started to run real rich and shut down. loads of fuel out of pipe. rebuilt carb with kit, no change like nothing was done. whats the next step. how does it go from running so good to not at all. fuel triple filtered. is there places dirt can get thats overlooked during rebuild. blown out with air. do i just buy a new carb.

Sound like it is flooding out, could be the check valve stuck open.

Since the engine is somewhat of an elder statesman the seat could be dirty causing the valve to stick in the housing or simply worn. Maybe you overlooked something during your rebuild so a check with your small engine repairer or the like should get you going in no time. If not, a replacement carb might be on the cards.

Some carbs have a fork and seat for the metering diaphram.
If the fork isn't in the seat, it will perform as you describe.

The metering diaphram is on the side of the carb with the little plate that has a hole in it.
This is usually opposite the side where the fuel line goes in.

You may be able to make it out in the attached picture.
You can see the fork on the bottom right, and the metering diaphram in upper right.

Let us know how you make out.

opened it up and checked.all shows to be in place. can anyone list some usable carb numbers for a g-23 air engine. or a good unmolested spare they can part with.
