Metal to Metal and 2.4 Ghz?
After years of never allowing metal to metal connections in my models, I am faced with this condition in my sabre. The bellcrank in the tail is linked with a Sullivan metal clevis. I have not made any addition provisions to prevent this since I was told that with 2.4 Ghz this is not a problem. The frequency created with metal to metal is no where near where 2.4Ghz operates. Is this true? I am using my new 12 FGA in this (and all my jets) plane.

Easy enough to find out if it has any effect... Turn the receiver on and power the servos up. Then start tapping metal parts with a screwdriver....if any of the servos jump, you know that the problem does extend to 2.4 . This trick will definitely get the servos dancing on 72Mhz.......

Just remember not all metal to metal is freq related. Some of it is electrical.
That means that it can run through the metal connections, through servo wire and back into the RX.
You should treat 2.4 no different than 72mhz in terms of trying to reduce RF and Electrical noise.

For whatever the reason, I only know that implementing a Spektrum DX-7 / AR-7000 system in one of my Giant Scale gassers, completely eliminated a bad glitch. No other steps were taken. Seems to prove greater immunity at 2.4 Ghz.
The Spektrum also resulted in a more solid feeling link, absolutely glitch free, with extreme range.

This is true that 2.4 is less prone to RF noise.....but it is not immune entirely.
I always feel better if my planes work fine on PPM or PCM first......then you darn well know there is no issues going to 2.4 that you may be hidding.
Eventually they will rear their ugly head.....they always do
