Default Alternative to nitro cleaner?

Does anyone know anything that I could use you clean my car instead of that stuff, its like 10 dollars a can. I can pick up a thing of brake cleaner at the local car shop for 2 dollars but I know its not very good for some of the parts.

Anything cheaper that I could use instead? My car is filthy!

Denatured alcohol. $8/gallon from the hardware store. Safe for plastics/electronics too.

Yes, look for a squeeze bottle which can do stream and spray. I use the stream to hard to get places.

If you go to back to your LHS airplane section (if they have it), you can buy brushes called "acid brush." They come in different sized and are stiff enough to get some of the stubborn grease out. Spray and brush. They are cheap, like under a dollar for 4.

If you want to go further and have a air compressor, you can spray, brush, air. I clean up my cars in under 10 minutes each.

i bought a refillable pressurized spray can. Best 12 bucks I ever spent. I fill it with denatured alcohol and then I can pressurize the can and it's just like a can of nitro wash. here's a link but you can find them on ebay also.

no prob, word of advice though. don't use the cap with the straw thingy. all that does is spray a constant stream of stuff. get an old cap from a wd40 bottle with the straw. much better (actually sprays instead of streams)

why would celly take offense to that?

on the topic of alcohols. "Rubbing Alcohol" is typically Isopropyl, whereas "denatured" is Ethyl with a bit of Methyl. Ethyl is the only kind you can drink, but Methyl is pretty bad for you, so they put just enough methyl in it to make it undrinkable, hence the name "denatured". Whisky, for example, is Ethyl alcohol

Denatured is good for all kinds of things, like cleaning RC cars, or spraying into the intake of a real car (high-boost turbo cars) to use as a knock-suppressant. Just keep it away from pets and kids.

Also, i wanted to comment that that link to Harbor Freight was awesome. I have their catalog, I can't believe I've never seen that thing before, thats REALLY cool! I'm gonna have to get one of those.

Rubbing alcohol is a NO, NO!!

It is not safe for plastic stuff and will harden (make it brittle) rubber seals. The components of rubbing alcohol is not good with rubber. Trust me. Been there, done that, sort of thing.

the can has a valve stem attachment (like a biclye, car tire). You can use a bicycle pump, car pump, or a compressor. It has a built in 90 psi safety valve. I fill it up with a compressor and it works perfect.
