The engine is a 25cc talon, i have used the same engine in a large scale heli, and with an 11mm walbro it seems to have some poke, im not after a raceboat its just for fun otherwise i would have bought a zen LOL. I am hoping there will be a little exitment though, hopefully it will[img][/img] at least get up on the plane

RE: weedy build
The transom seems so dangerous, I already cut through my jeans and sliced my leg on the turn fins just by walking past, and now im supposed to sharpen the prop, is there any part thats no dangerous? are the turn fins/prop/rudder supposed to be this sharp? or have i taken things to the extream?

RE: weedy build
They do need to be reasonably sharp but maybe not so sharp as to be like a razor ,yes these things are very dangerous especially when the prop is spinning so keep well clear at all times and keep your pets and kids away too .

RE: weedy build
Well. i started on the radio box, but mistakes were made[:@] Hopefully it wont be a problem to fix, only have to block a hole. I test floated the hull today, and is looking good i have it balanced at 30% and there is not much hull in the water at all, the transom from the keel up is in about 2" and the rest is all looking good, sits in the water real nice. Im hoping to get her wet soon just have to add floatation. Does anyone have ideas on trims, should i build a set now or wait to see what happens? I know they can help to trim torqe and can lift the transom, but are they needed an all cases?

Yea thats right, I was however exited as the vessel was sitting as i had wished which brought hope, being as it is the first of these iv'e built (berore i had only built small electric boats, scale mainly, apart from scale helis, cars, fixedwing and the rest). I was hoping maybe you guys, having more experence with these gas powered machines could help me out with the setups and what tecniques you are employing to hopfully have a succesfull machine

RE: weedy build
dont worry so much about it mate 30% sounds fine to me ,did you offset the drive line to the right a bit? if so that will overcome prop walk and torque roll .you dont have to have trim tabs either, run it and see how she runs first.

Yes, i did offset the drive line from the keel about 4mm to the right, But i still have the challenge of sharpening the prop, that will be fun

HI mate you balance the boat once you have all the hardware mounted then put everything in the hull roughly where it will go such as fuel tank radio box and gear.then put a broom under the boat and move the motor arround till it balances at about 30% from the transom then mark where it needs to be .

RE: weedy build
hey tjmackey - I have very similar looking turn fins on my boat and have scratched myself and ripped shirts walking by as well. What I did, is leave the leading edge alone and take off the point at the bottom of the fin. Grind it flat and you will be a lot better off. I saw no difference in mine after taking off about 1/4" off the bottom of the turn fin.
