Default heli guy needs advice

i'm hopin that you fellas can make a suggestion on an engine for this setup:

HPI Proceed 4wd

i need a .21 rear exhaust for this kit

(i know nothin about nitro cars) i fly helis and understand engine tuning and break in, all that stuff

who makes high end competition engines>?
what do you think of this car?

the link to the cars specs are here

http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/prod...sp?prod=HPI801

i'm buying this car for my younger brother as a birthday gift. he currently has an hpi 4wd with a .12 or .15 engine(not sure). he's pretty damn good with the thing too. is this car a step up from the hpi he's got now? i know that the car he has is less than 6months old, so maybe you would know the model. do you think he'd be happy with this rig?

plz advise

Its definitly a step up, but by the time your done with everything its going to cost you close too 1000 dollars (towerhobbies has it for 550 though). I'm not an expert on .21 engines but maybe an OS will be good. You can always get the HPI 21BB engine for a fair price, it has modest power and its what its designed for. If he plans on seriously racing it a .21 Rossi engine is good, but its going to cost 300+ dollars. As for tuned pipe any .21 pipe should be fine.

How old is your brother? If he's 13 or younger I don't know the proceed might be a bit too fast for him, it goes about 70mph.

It's a great car though.

In terms of engines it depends on how fast you want to go. If you top of the line modifided speed the Rossi JP Black series or a RB Concepts Collori (not sure if it spelled right). Those two motor will give ultimate performance but at a price, these motors cost about $600.00 or more depending where you get it.

Try Ashford hobbies they sell tons of RB Concepts. Siro imported by Trinity is nice, O.S. motors are very fast and super reliable, just like thier heli engines. The standard Novarossi engines are very fast also. All the motors are in the $300 to $350 range.

Either way you go you will be amazed how fast these things are.

I hope your brother will race it, there isn't much point to have something that expensive if your not going to race it.

the ofna hyper .21 8 port and 8 port race are suppose to be good bang for the buck engines. the .21 8 port puts out 2.5 hp @38,000 rpm. the best part is that you can get it for 135-140 bucks. For a basher/racer engine thats about as good as it gets.

Check out the RB Concepts engines. The C5 is a rippin' ass engine and is unmatched in performance (beside modifieds) and quality. Match it up with an RB pipe and your car will fly, you will need a strong clutch and be able to properly modify it for low end torque because this is a long stroke engine with tons of top end. I have succesfully run the C5 Buggy engine for 15 gallons without any problems so that speeks for the reliability. Sirio makes some good engine also, so does Novarossi. Some italian engines are hard to get parts for but tend to run longer before requiring repairs. Go with the RB engine and youll have good luck.
