If it were me id just pull the whole tube out shaft and all!!,also in the pic it looks like an ali tube?if so id change for a brass one although i have run an ali tube in my weedy powered boat i did use a brass bushing as ali is a bit soft .

RE: broken flex shaft
Dial your camera to the flower setting. This will let you take pictures from just a few inches away and be much clearer. Or back away a little bit. Those pics are rough.
now back to the regular scheduled flex shaft.....[8D]

RE: broken flex shaft
If it is an aluminum tube then it should be swapped with brass. I suspect that the aluminum tube itself may be the cause of the failure. If it ran dry or rusted the flex will begin to cut away at the inside an eventually jam the cable causing it to break. If thats the case, you will never get the flex shaft out of it anyway. Use a hot air gun ( hair dryer) and soften the epoxy around the hull/tube joint and it will pull right out. n Good Luck.

RE: broken flex shaft
when you pull the tube out id seal up the hole from inside with glass cloth ,fill the outside with resin and micro balloons sand smooth then make it surface drive, drill straight out of the back (transom).

RE: broken flex shaft
alright i'll try to soften the hull with the hot air gun as son as i can get around to it, also is it hard at all to convert it to a surface drive?
