Default Removing stuck piston ring

I have Saito engine with stuck piston ring. Need to remove and replace the ring but not having any success. I thought about gently heating the piston crown, which would expand the aluminum more than the steel ring and maybe pop the ring loose.
I have soaked the piston in oil and WD40 but no progress.
Any other better ideas?

Also when reassembling the engine how do I correctly time the cam gear with the crankshaft?
Thanks,

The quickest would be to place it in the oven at 200 deg for a few minutes if its old castor.

Last resort.

I cooked a piston in antifreeze for a couple of days and then used penetration oil and carb cleaner without success. Finally I heated the piston with a torch and drove the ring out using a scribe as a punch. Had to ask wife to tap, tap, tap with a small hammer while I held everything with gloves. The ring came out in several pieces.

You don't say why the ring was stuck. May need a new piston as well.

Cheers

The ring appeared to be frozen to the piston. The bearings were stuck as well. I finally was able to free up all part by more soaking and working loose.
Thanks for the good ideas from everybody.
