truck runs away
I took my savage out for a bit, but if i gave it more than half throttle, the throttle stayed engaged and applying the breaks wouldn't do anything and the truck would take off. the batteries in the transmitter are ok and i put brand new batteries in the receiver. What could be wrong?

it's supposed to apply the brakes (or whatever you set it for) when the batteries die in your remote control... not sure if it works when batteries die in the truck though...
first time i was lucky, when my batteries died, i hit the snow pile, truck jumped and flipped over and stopped there... After that i got a failsafe i had 4-lane traffic on the other side!!!
really easy to install and set up, but u'll need a little tiny miny screwdriver

It will set the brakes if teh voltage drops below like 3.5volts. Batteries dont just die completely. It also sets the brake if you lose radio control.

LOL you could, but why pay 70 bucks for a failsafe and program it to smash ya truck, just smash it straight up and save 70 bucks !
Jokes aside failsafes are a must !
Venom make a good one, and get a 2 dollar spring on the throdle !

RE: truck runs away
ok that is an investment that i will save up for but the problem with that is that my breaks don't work properly to begin with, they are stock and i've adjusted the throttle linkage so the breaks are applied fully and it doesn't slow down

yeah, $20 and you're good... as for the brakes, use fuel tube on the brake shaft (on both sides of the servo arm). Take this sh***y spring out, put a piece a fuel tube slightly longer than the stock spring (actually close to 1/2" longer i think) instead, and another piece of fuel tube on the other side of the servo arm so that when you apply the throttle, it pushes your brakes as well. this way, you make sure there will be no drag at all!!
if you didn't get it ( i know my description kinda sucks), there are hundreds of posts about that on this forum, search for "brakes issue", "fuel tube mod..."
and btw, i am pretty sure you can set it up on the sterring servo so that when batteries die your truck keeps going in circles
