Shorter range for Losi 2.4 GHz system?
Hi there,
I've got a 2.4 GHz DSM transmitter and receiver from a mini LST2 and started using them on my CEN MG16. But sometimes the truck has gotten out of control. First I thought the rx battery could be loose but it didn't solve the problem.
I notice this occurs when the truck goes far away (but still in my "control able" line of sight). So I started wondering if the 2.4 Ghz could have a shorter range than a ordinary AM or FM system.
It should be noted that the Transmitter uses only 4 AA batteries. So maybe the range is affected by the lower power supplied than a 9.6v Tx. Also the system was designed for 1/18th electric trucks. Maybe bigger tracks weren't considered in the project design.
Has anybody else noticed this?

misasi,
Which system do you use? Because I'm talking about the Transmitter and Receiver which come with the Losi Mini trucks and Bajas.
I am sure it's not a problem related to Futaba, Airtronics or Spektrum systems. They have a very long range.

i am using futaba. however i would think even with the losi dsm you should get at least the same range as a basic am radio.

Losi is offering this radio system on their new Speed-T also.
I wonder if it's a more powerful radio even with 4 AA cells.
