Hey guys.

Well I have an Ofna Hi-torque starter box.

The starter itself is great.. turns over my Rossi no problem, plenty of power.

But the panel, is another story.
I bought this box "like new" from a guy.
The glow plug panel and every thing looks brand new
I plugged in my glow plug ignitor and nothing happened.
So I played around with the screws. Bad idea!!
The glow plug was bad. So when I put another one in and plug it in.

I hear an ELECTRICAL BUZZ, and the "Check" light comes on (its RED.. looks like a warning).

Any ideas!? I'm new to the panel thing.

if it is an ofna glow panel, make sure you use the yellow terminals. the other ones (i believe they are red) output 12V and will nuke a glow plug. There should also be an adjustment screw, start with the lowest setting (CCW) and work your way up if it isn't enough.

Yeah I tried that. I tried adjusting that thing both ways. Still get that red light and that sound. Also, the glow plug does NOT glow even though its brand new. Works in my car, but it skinda shorts or something. MAybe the "wand" is bad? Bought it for 6 bucks. Brand new.

Of course, I have it in the right spot. I'm not that dumb lol.

I don't knwo what kinda sound your talking bout, before I get my ofna box out to compare, do you mean the lil shock sound when you put it on the glow plug :-D hehe... brb let me get my starter box.. haha

No, its a continuous arcing sound. ever heard electricity arc over an open space? Like continuous static electricity?

Its not good. I'm pretty stumped.
I'm thinkin about buying another panel and returning this lol.. evil.. I know!

Seriously, I've noticed if the battery has plenty of juice to turn the engine over you still may not have enough to work the panel (therefore its components).

I experienced this first hand when I first received my starter box - the battery had just enough to turn the flywheel with conviction, but the second I started the wheel turning the power to the driver would cut out and not come back until the plug was removed and re-clamped with power to the wheel off.

The LED being lit is no big deal, that just indicates you're getting power to the driver. Have you tried the 12V Test button yet? No matter how much I charge the battery I've NEVER gotten it past the Low LED (red).

Anyway, the buzzing is not so prevalent on my driver, maybe you just got a bad one? Have you checked it for continuity?

The red light means the glow plug is good. The arcing sound may be caused by the glow igniter being dirty or oily. Also after extensive use one of the wires connected inside the igniter was holding on by just one strand and arcing. The igniter screws apart to clean or repair. My panel shows a green light when fully charged and I use a 12 volt gel cell. Hope this helps.

my ofna 12V only stays on Green after a night of charging, but after that first turn of the flywheel on my car, it stays at yellow for the rest of the day the lights mean nothing.
