has anyone ever seen or used this chassis? i want to put a rustler tranny in it, and wondered if anyone else had already.

Looks like a Bulu 2 chassis. It's designed to use a Stampede tranny, so if the Rustler tranny has the same mounting bolt pattern, it should work fine.

The Xl-1, Xl-5, and VXL models of the Stampede, Rustler, and Bandit use the same transmission.

Default RE: chassis

Dose any one have any experience with the pivot stile of shock mounting?
Similar to the Revo setup. Dose it work well or not? Just looks like it would be fun.
I don’t have any shocks yet so this would be a good time to set it up.
Thank you
Mike

Default RE: chassis

The tranny mounts vertically in that chassis if I remember right.

As for a cantilever setup (like a Revo), my Goliath crawler used to have that. Needless to say, I swapped it all out with a standard shock setup long ago. You can get good articulation, but the cantilever setup requires more parts than a standard setup. More parts = more stuff that can break/malfunction. I'd say it's easier to tune a standard setup too. You can change shock angles in addition to spring rates and oil to fine tune the suspension. The same can be done with a cantilever design, but it requires swapping in new cantilevers with more/less leverage and I don't think there's a huge selection of cantilevers out there.
