Looking for a real TX, ebay/auction site questions
I've been looking around for a new TX. I've seen a lot of DX6 and DX7 models (Most claim to be in box and brand new.) on ebay for half the price of whats available brand new at common retail sites. I've been working with computers for a living for 13 years now, from hardware to now a full time software developer so it's that I don't trust the technology, It's the people I don't trust.
So, I have never purchased anything on ebay, but with these kinds of prices for a new TX (Something other than a stock ESky TX.), I'm starting to think about giving it a try. Have you had any bad experiences purchasing from auction sites such as Ebay? And what sort of red flags should I pay special attention to if I do decide to purchase a new TX from these types of sites? Or, should I just simply pay the full price at an established retail site and stop worrying?
lol, Thanks!

First, make sure you know what you're getting. You want a MODE 2, US Legal (Europe has a lower power output) Helicopter version DX7.
Then look at the sellers feedback, one bad one in 7 or 8 is probably someone to avoid, a few bad ones in 2000 feedbacks isn't much to worry about.
Third, make sure you're clear on the shipping. Some places have low prices but crazy shipping to make up the difference.
Last, Horzion Hobby in the US only supports systems purchased through authorized retailers so you may or may not be able to get warranty coverage if there's a problem if you bought it from somewhere in Hong Kong etc.

also check to see what's included with the radio. in many cases the ebay sales (if new) are for the transmitter only and don't include the servos or receiver.

Also look for a return policy. Some sellers take returns and some don't. Be clear on what payment methods the seller accepts. Some take only Paypal for payment. The feedback profile of the seller is the best indication of his/her performance when buying or selling. Look for negative comments like, "late shipping," or "no communication." The rule at Ebay is: buyer beware.

HI there
I second what DRUSS say it and probably that why is low price ,they sell only the TX without servos and rx, Many people get this E-flite400 helicopter and sell only tx. Read very carefully[:-]. Probably around $160-$180,for TX and RX. is in range.

Husko,
I bought my dx7 from ebay. The seller runs a store up in NY somewhere and they blow through stuff on ebay as well. Don't bother with an actual bidding auction unless you really want to try and save 5-10 bucks.
I paid 230 or so and got my dx7 bare bones with an ar6100 receiver.
Here is a shop selling one for 179.99, 20 bucks shipping though but still you can snag it for 200 as opposed to 350 with 4 servos that you can buy for 50 bucks shipped.

I wouldn't buy from some individual but a hobby shop that has a store on ebay shouldn't do you wrong. Nitro********* was the one I got mine from but express hobbies (the link above) looks good as well, 9k feedbacks and a high positive percentage.

that's a perfect example of a TX only..you would still need to buy a receiver. the 6 channel receivers run about 50 bucks plus shipping. the 7 channel runs about 99 plus shipping. when you start adding in receiver and servos, the price comes out about right. plus, the authorized resellers are told wheat price they can advertise the radio for. (MAP= minimum advertised price) however, most places have a differnt price once it's added to the shopping cart. as an example: http://thebarnfloor.com/catalog/prod...c274172b7f6b88 the MAP is $349 but if you add it to the cart it's $299.99 of course that one includes full size servos and 7 channel receiver plus receiver battery and TX battery. if you plan on using it in a 450 size heli you'd want the microlite version with a 6 channel rx and smaller servos.

I'm still trying to figure out if RCU has it's own auction site. They state Auction, but dog gone if I can find such a forum.
I keep ending up at a classified forum. Does anybody know the answer?

Have you looked at the Airtroncs RDS8000. It is an 8 channel radio, 2.4G, Tx, battery, charger and Rx for $229.99 new form most stores around the net. It is super simple to program and easy to setup. For the price it is a steal.
