whats everyones opinion on having 2 diff. sets of tires on at the same time?
currently im running losi zombie maxx on all four sides on my emaxx. they are give good traction vs the stock tires. but my question is, have anyone tried using 2 different sets of tires on their truck at the same time? im thinking of trying the mashers on the rear and keeping the zombies on the front. will this be a bad idea? any suggestions or ideas about this would be much appreciated. if someone actually tried mashers and zombies....how was it?

Its not a great idea, if the tyre diameter is a different size, or if one set of rubber is alot softer than the other, you just work the arse out of your diffs.

so those things you stated will be bad for my diffs? but im not running 2 diff sets on the left and right side. its just the front and back are different and the front and backs have thier own diffs. so it will still be bad then?

Well yea dude, you are effectively changing the final ratio, ie, the front final ratio will be different to the rear final ratio, if you run a centre diff you can get away with it, but it works the central diffs anus off, not good, without the centre diff you are likely to damage the gear meshing in the diffs, especially on concrete or tarmak, to a point where they grind off, basicly its a bad idea, its a golden rule to keep the final ratio on all 4 wheels the same in Rc if its a 4x4 drive. In the real world you will find speciallised diffs that actually are geared ever so slightly higher in front ends of some trucks , stops gear crunching.
In Rc we keep em the same, take the axle and shafts out of front end if you have muti sized tyres.
Front to back is 'worse ' than side to side, its better to have a big and little one ,on the front and back ,for your driveline. This way the diffs work more but can do it, front to back they just fight until one fails, my bet being the rear to fail as its usually got the most wear on it.
Are these tyre the same size ? Give or take 5mm ?

ever see your tires fan out? well the diameter just changed, as long as the tires are not over diffrent in diameter. IMO won't make much diffrence,.

Since the front tires are do all of the steering and the rear tires do most of the accelerating it makes sense that different tires front and rear are useful - it depends on the track conditions. The rear tire of an RC10B44 is slightly wider and has a greater diameter than the front tire and it's a racer so I doubt it affects performance negatively.

You get better control with a 4x4 if the wheels are all the same, eg. baja type front wheels would not grip the same as talon tyres, if they are placed on a 4x4 with baja front talon rear, in cornering your tail will spin out, its the same usually but to a lesser degree with most type tyre treads, if the wheels are 5mm within the same size it'll be ok usually, unless you drive on tarmak all the time, and when balloning happens in the front end and not the back you can bet the front tyres are actually breaking traction, because if the didnt you would bust diffs without a centre diff, with a centre diff, like truggies, any wheel can balloon without fear of cog crunch, front or rear, but make no mistake without a centre diff with different diametre wheels you are working your diffs, stressing your front and rear drive shafts, and putting extra wear and tear on the diff cogs, one place it wont hurt is on ice !

I believe the zombies are considerably taller than the mashers. If you put zombies in the back they will try to make the truck go faster than the front tires are going (result: stress in the tranny, center drive shafts, and ring&pinion gears in the diffs). If you put the zombies up front they will try to pull the truck apart dragging the back along because the smaller mashers can't keep up (result: same as mentioned before). Do I need to say " not good " ?
