OK, here is the Challenger that I did a post on a couple of days ago. It arrived yesterday, and I have to say that I am very happy with it. It is a good looking boat. There is no structural damage at all to it except a couple of cracks on the hatch that I can fix with a little fiberglassing no problem. The onlyother problem is all the holes on the transom from multiple hardware setups. Not really that big of a problem though. I might go with different hardware but not sure yet. Any suggestions? I deffinitely like the turn fins and the trim tabs. Does anyone think that I would need another pair of tabs or are the 2 fine? I will put a t bar on the stuffing tube because the epoxy mess they had on there is ugly and is comeing apart. The stuffing tube was also broke at that spot so I will have to replace that. Am I limited to a wtc header on this boat because the exhaust hole is in the middle? Are all the Challengers set up that way? Does anyone have pics they can post of theirs so I can get some ideas?

Sorry i dont have any pics. What is the lenght of the hull,looks like a 43" but could be just how it is painted? Tabs and turn fins are ok but look into the Speedmaster hardware. You do not have to use a wtc header as there are 100*/105* headers you can buy for the pipe to come through the center hole.

Thanks, It is a 43" hull. Wouldnt those headers make the pipe come out at an angle? I was thinking a stinger drive with a 6" from the transom rudder, or a centered rudder, or a dual rudder setup because I want it to turn well in both directions as I dont race. Any reason you suggest the Speedmaster hardware rather than the hardware that is on there?

check on the speedmaster stinger that cc racing sells thats the on i have works great no problems

Yes, I'd recommend either getting another set of trim tabs or moving those a lot further inboard. The trick is getting them on around the present hardware at it will be in the way.
That strut as way too much angle on it also the way that it is in the shots.

I think I will go with a stinger drive. That way It will be a lot easier to adjust without resealing the stuffing tube in the hull and take up less space. Now that you mention it, I do realize that the trim tabs need to come in further. Or do these hulls run better with 2? It seems like the previous owners didnt know what they were doing. Doesnt anyone have pics of their hull so I can get an idea of what to do? Coyv10, what else do you recomend and do you have any pics? Thanks.

Aeromarine sets theirs up with 2 on each side so I'm guessing that's the way to go.
I have the Speedmaster gas stinger. It's nice and a lot lighter than it looks but still has the beef where it needs it.
Keep in mind with a long stinger that they have to be mounted a little higher than a regular strut. My centerline is at 1/2" above the Vee but my have to go higher. This sounds like a lot especially when you've got it mounted and had to be convinced to get it up there. Until I was expalined the why-for's and how-come's did I do it.

Ill take your word for it. Is it a lot easier to adjust though? Doesnt it also put the prop out in "clean" water? I thought I read a post on that a while back about how far out the prop should be.
