Default Removing One-Way Bearing

I seem to have the slipping one-way bearing syndrome with my EZ Start. The EZ start motor spins (whirrs) but the engine sputters every couple of seconds. I have seen on different posts how to clean the one-way bearing, but I can't find how to remove it. Any advice?

To be honest, I forgot how the assembly looks on Traxxas trucks since my T-maxx has been sitting in my basement for the last year, but if you have access to it, spray some degreaser (any household degreaser, even oven cleaner) and it will work like a charm Tom.

4 screws on the back of the engine. ez start come right off. pull out the bearing ,clean it w/nitro spray the oil it w/synthetic motor oil. that keeps it from sliping

I have always oiled my oneways with 5w-30 synthetic like traxxas recommends. News to me if it last longer without oiling? Wondering if it wears them out quicker too?

You forget that oil from the fuel reaches the one-way bearing from the crankshaft, everytime I take my roto start off all my engines I always see some oil from my Trinity's Monster fuel.

Thats the point, oil will get there anyway so there is no point to add fuel for the fire An OWB can never be dry unless it is external and very well sealed off.

3 screws that hold the ezstart gear case on is what holds the gear case in place; simply take the engine off, then take those 3 screws out to release the 2 halves of the gear casing where the one way sits, then take some denatiured alcohol and let it soak for a few hours or so, then dry it off and re-lube it with a after run oil....also while at it clean the starter shaft with den. alcohol and re-lube that lightly as well...

Thanks guys. Almost seems too easy! Any opinions on the Tigerdrive since my EZ start will be off anyways?

I use the 90 degree Tiger Drive and I like it a lot!

YUP, that was the problem. Dunked the bearing in denatured alcohol overnight, lubed it with 3 in 1 Oil, and reinstalled. Works like a charm. Thanks everyone. Im still thinking about the Tiger Drive option for when the EZ Start permanently dies though.

Sometimes u have no choice but to get a new one; especially if u have tried cleaning the bearing and it still slips...
