Default Never had this Problem Before...

Ok, this is very difficult to explain so here it goes:

I put in my spur gear today (ive had alot of past problems with stripping them) and was pretty happy to see that in the first 2 minutes, the spur hadn't stripped. Then my motor made that sound like you hear when you strip one. (the high winding of rpms). I went over to my truck expecting to see another flat spur but was surprised to see all the teeth were still intact. So i fired it back up and it did the same thing, so this time when i went over i saw the spur gear just spinning, very quickly, and the motor rpm's were at idle, but the spur was spinning very fast, like the clutchbell and spur were no longer making contact. Then all of the sudden, it started spinning normally again like the clutch bell and spur were now making contact. This was pretty much how my night went trying to make the thing work.

I have a revo 3.3 and ive never had this problem before, and i have high hopes that one of you may know the answer to why my truck is doing this.

***Thanks in advance!!***

oh i see what you are saying. I didn't take my engine out to change it, i took the tranny out. However, one of my engine screws is stripped and halfway out, but the other 3 are in and tight. Also when i try to wiggle it, even the slightest bit, it doesn't give or move at all

its only a couple bucks for a bottle.. they are real small bottles but you dont need much. here is a link to where to get a tube of one to use on metal to metal and the other is for metal to plastic which is not as strong but works great.. i think shipping is $4.50 which cost more then the lock tite:}:} maybe you have a lhs??

everything is mounted down tight, even the motor with the bad screw. Neither move at all. Why do you think the clutch and the spur just sometimes separate. Or at least thats what the problem seems like. I dont know for sure. Ive ran around 2 gallons through it, could the clutch bell be worn down? its never been replaced. It seems to look alright

Transmission mounted tight as well? You sure your chassis is straight?

Well a lot of bstripped spurs can only mean a couple things.. Bad mesh, bent chassies, or a broken motor mount. Does it still drvie fine? Nothing out of the ordinary?

You can tell by how it drives or by eyeballing it. Can you tell if the mesh straight or is there a slight angle where the clutch meets the spur?

Hmmm I just read, one of your screws is loose? Even if you can't move the motor by hand it can still torque itself up and chew up the spur gear if you have a screw loose. You should buy a new mount and get some threadlocker.

good news, i just used some WD-40 and got that stripped screw out and ill need a new motor mount on one side for the damage that screw did inside of it. I also think a new clutch bell may be in store for me. And it drives fine. Tranny is a little messed up. Sometimes, like earlier today, it just wont shift. I think i messed it up and ill need to eventually break inside of it. I just dont wanna. lol im lazy. No angle with the mesh. I dont know what is up

You can adjust the shift point.

The motor can be at idle and the spur gear can spin as fast as it likes , when you drop your engine revs, the clutch disengages, leaving the spur gear to spin, this happens when your driving fast and just let the throdle trigger go to neutral, and the truck rolls freely, in your case , your gear box is in neutral or you might have a stripped gear in the tranny by the sounds of it.

My engine is held in by 2 screws ! Dont move, locktite !

I just kinda did a test (if u call it a test). I started the engine and the clutch bell started spinning very fast, along with the spur. The clutch was moving the spur. So i have moved the problem (maybe) from the spur spinning fast to the clutch bell. Why would it even be moving? I was letting it only idle.

And i will go and check the tranny
