recording / monitering on mac book pro
Hey There People
I am soon to buy a dragonfly savs and a lot of my questions have been answered on this fab forum .
But something i am still trying to work out is the best way to record the NTSC /PAL onto a Mac Book Pro, which only has firewire or usb inputs .
It would be ideal if i could connect from the receiver through some kind of firewire or usb powered converter and use the mac to both moniter and record .
I found some items along those lines and was wondering if these would work ?

If that isn't impossible as a secondary idea , I read somewhere that most Canon mini Dv recorders have video in , can i connect a dv cam to the receiver and record to tape and then stream to the mac book via usb / firewire ?
Obviously video quality is an important factor.
Would like to hear any other ideas out there , and if there are any mac users it would be cool to get your feedback .
Best regards
Gavin

Check out this product:
http://www.canopus.com/products/ADVC55/index.php
I have it and works great. It is a firewire device that looks like a video camera to the computer. No drivers needed for Mac or PC
It can be powered from the computer if you have the larger Firewire connector.
