THE BIG ONE! T-MAXX or REVO! (3.3's)
Hey everyone i'm pretty new to hobby level r/c's and bought a rusty xl-5 in januaray. ive pretty much taken it to its limits and i'm looking to purchase a truck in the summer.
Ive pretty much narrowed it down to a Revo 3.3 or a T-Maxx 3.3 but have a few questions/concerns.
Handling
Running my rusty im used to beign able to spin and slide at top end with no issues on sandy/dust pavement or wet pavement. Now ive only HEARD!!! that the tmaxx has some issues in this department with a high center of gravity. can anyone confirm this? and to what extrent can it be pushed before tipping? Same goes for the Revo, limits on handeling and such. ( i am aware that the revo is more race orinted and better for this)
Bashablility
Tmaxx is better for this due to shock setup but what about the Revo? how well does it fair against the tmaxx?
WHEELIES!!!!!!
Now I have seen SOME reports on a stock Revo being able to wheelie but is this true and can anyone confirm this!? And how is the Tmaxx in this area?
If anyone has any other intresting ideas for a tuck to buy please do tell and any other info on these trucks can help.-ALLLSOOO i dont wanna jato 3.3 . it seemed like a good idea but really in all honesty i have a rusty and i dont think even more power would help in canada......YAY for winter....
OH! also wondering about winter driving. i can easlly get acess to a heated garage to start. how well do the nitro engines fare in cold temp.?
Thanks for anyones time as i am a newcomer to nitro!
P.S. Youtube is sucky for me and doesnt seem reliable enough for this kinda research.
Kyle.
Edits are all spelling lol sorry.

Hey, Both trucks rock. You can set them both up realy high for wheelies and jumps or low to handle. tmaxx is alittle ez er to work on, but the revo you can race ez er. I have both.
My revo is my fav. The new tmaxx has a great price tag right now . good luck man.

i just bought them both..i love them both.. the new version of the tmaxx which they made a few improvments but taken out the reverse is nice. revo has a reverse which i like having. some guys take theirs out. the tmaxx will pop wheelies on demand and hold them all day long..
the shocks in the revo are a cool design and really helps a lot with those head on collisions. the tmaxx is a bit bigger and also has bigger tires.. they both get up to 45+mph. they can take all you can dish out.. i am still unsure which one i like the best. if you do decide on getting the tmaxx make sure you get the newer one.. plus it is 40-50 cheaper then the older version i guess to them taking out the reverse and opti drive. '
but they did correct a few problems the original version had.. you can check them both out here and the revo.. both are very good/fun/fast/tuff trucks.. so anyone you get you will like.. the tmaxx will cost you about a hundred dollars less then the revo.

Winter for nitros is going to be much harder on the motor unless you learn how to control the heat and keep it up to temps without leaning it out. Wraping the head and blocking off the windshield air hole to a certain degree is going to be a must if you want your motor to get its full power and last more than a few gallons. Preheating the motor before starting or starting it in your heated garage before you take it out will be a must also inorder to keep the lifespan of the nitro. These nitro motors are designed with a sleeve and piston that contracts and expands at different temps. They are not like your ordinary real car motors, or like a chain saw or lawnmower motor. They need presice tunning and run with less wear and more power at a certain window of temps. I would say if you want wheelies get the T-maxx, its got a higher center of gravitiy, the revo might wheelie if you get a good break in and tune it right and its a good day out. Some guys have better sucess with wheelsies on the revo than others. If your looking for less roll overs and more of a race type handling you should be buying the revo no question about that. Alot of thought was put into the revo to keep the center of gravity low. If you go to a hobby store and look at one you will see compared to other trucks the revo has everything layed out and droped down lower than most. Even the motor has a slight tilt to the center which adds to its lower CG and improving handling.

Thanks very much jake! I've seen you in the forums before talking about your tmaxx and revo. going through your forums as well as others are veryyyy helpful when looking at either truck.
Also thanks very much Mspeed your wintertips are nice andim shure i will get it all down. also by the time i hit winter i think the motor will be a bit worn anyways lol cause i cant wait to get my hands on a nitro!
Also i was wondering about some out of box upgrades i could invest in. i was told by a buddie i met on xbox live who has a tmaxx that the skidplates might be a good upgrade to aluminum scince his broke on impact with a bush.
Money btw isnt all that hard by for me as im only 16 and living at home and will be doing some apprenticing with my dad this summer makin FAT cash so anything would be a help.
And if anyone knows a thing or two about Bearded Dragons i could use a tip becasue i recently have one from a firend for FREE@!!!! She's about 3 yrs. old and shes acting kinda weird... he says its jsut shedding but shes been moody for about 2 weeks and no shed skin anywhere. shes also latly been sleeping on her sand and wont eat any veggies unless hand fed. any tips to help me out ? (TOTALLY OFF TOPIC LOL)

Depending on how hard u drive the t-maxx, some aluminum bulkheads and center CVD'S might be a good out of the box investment. I'm not sure about the revo.
Sorry man but I don't know anything about Beared Dragons. Try Petsmart maybe?

Ha I've looked around and asked my buddie and he says just feed and water it and itll be ok....... such detail.
Yea i probably drive pretty hard. the fact that i had to make a steel rear shock tower for my rusty shows i mean buisness =)

Ok Which one are u planning on getting?
Ok Which one are u planning on getting?
THE PREASSURE IS SO GREAT ON A CHOICE!!!!! ITS ALMOST LIKE THE MATRIX!
Um from all that i've heard so far i'll probably end up getting teh revo. cause as im new to nitro i've only herd that after a gallon of fuel ur motor gets even better! so this could enable the revo to wheelie.
If that fails i could go but a picco or Os w/e the hell it is!

I have really never heard of any weak points on a Revo. Except for the header. I have heard quite a few people complain about breaking them

RE: THE BIG ONE! T-MAXX or REVO! (3.3's)
well at my LHS on its grand opening (although the had been in buisness for 5 months) they had a lil party, feista, gathering, w/e you wanna call it and it was a min track day at teh parking lot and a small grassy area. there was about 3 revos and 2 bad drives so i saw the awosme durability of em. off the jumps there were alot of nose dives and cart wheels. i also saw a hpi hellfire do a backflip and then shortly after crash into a post and have his day end fast. the only bad part was i saw no tmaxx's out there so i couldnt compare.
anyways thatnks everyone for your help but im off to Xbox live for some gaming action! i hope to see you on the forums more as all of you had great input and advice that most cocky LHS owners ordumb employee's couldnt offer!
Kyle.

RE: THE BIG ONE! T-MAXX or REVO! (3.3's)
The revo doesnt have some of the stress points the T-maxx has due to its new design. The way the Tmaxx chassis is layed out it puts alot of stress on the bulks and can breeak them much easier than the revo. The way the Tmaxx has its front end tied together it has a tendency to rip off in hard wreaks, the revo doesnt not have that issue either. The older T-maxx has issues with the driveline tearing up too, but this got fixed with the new T-maxx. Plus the newest T-maxx has a bit bigger chassis and a little better reinforced so it might hold together a bit better. The revo is probably going to be a more solid truck, but it has its issues with the rear exhaust breaking headers. Still for the money the newest T-maxx without reverse is a good buy.

Whichever one you buy (I love my t-maxx and can't break it) You should probably invest in some parts from rpm (www.rpmrcproducts.com) as I said I can't break any of their parts and if you do you get free replacements

I don't think i could forget about my 360....<3 although rc does go first before my 360.
Thanks Diamond in the ruff for your rpm tip, i have heard lots of good things about their products and wouldnt hesitate to buy a rpm replacement. I am also intrested in some Integy aluminum parts, is there any problems with their parts?
Thanks again everyone!
I am so random but does anyone here have a zune Gen 2 80gb? any pro's/con's?
