Has anyone flown both of these jets? If so how similar or dissimilar are their flight chacteristics?

The Bobcat will fly great, everytime, with retracts that don't leak. Every part will fit perfectly and BVM will get every part perfect until you are happy, and you can call BVM and talk with someone who knows what they're talking about.
The velox will fly just fine, will have a few "china ARF" syndrome nuances, the gear will likely work all the time and it will take about half the time to build as the Bobcat.
If you can afford it, go with BVM. You will not be dissapointed.
If its too much to swing, go with feibao. You will, likely, not be dissapointed.
But what ever you do, just get a jet.

RE: BVM Bobcat vs Fei Bao Velox
I've flown both planes. The bobcat with a digitech ulysses and the velox with a wren supersport.
Both planes fly well but the bobcat is in aerodynamical point of view better designed. It is a bit more stabile with tight aerobatics but the general sportflyer will not feel the difference of the 2300 dollar [8D]. The bobcat is also a bit better on slow flight manoeuvres.
I've seen the Velox XL fly a few times. I think it flies better than the small velox (mostly because it's bigger). Hope to get a bit sticktime on the XL soon...
A Fei Bao with a good landinggear (Digitech prolynx) is a good quality to price ratio...
Cheers, Koen jr.

RE: BVM Bobcat vs Fei Bao Velox
Thank you very much for your input Koenieboy. Everyone has shared valuable information but I was beginning to think that no one was going to answer the actual question. I kind of thought that with the two planes having similar size, dimension and weight they would probably fly close to the same which you have verified. I never intended this thread to be a quality comparison between the two planes because there is no comparison. As you eluded to I was just wondering if the difference in flight characteristics justified the huge disparity in price. I have a P80 to put on the bird so I'm sure it will have enough power. BTW Airforce7 my JJ1400 has 35+ flights on it and still going strong. Heck I can buy 4 Veloxs' for what a Bobcat cost and with the way I fly I don't think I have to worry about how long the plane will hold up <grin>! Thank you all for your advice. Except Heytex I know that guy. Ya'll can refer to him as Junior. I do!

Some people do look at quality for comparison. Building and maintaining jets, as you know with your JJ, is a very real part of the hobby.
I know I wish I could just fly all the time, but I do enjoy getting to know my airplanes (how they're built) again, every once and a while.

I hope this thread is still alive.. I just ordered the Velox for a winter project... first jet.
I assumed that a P-80 would be overkill for it, and I was concerned about it putting too much weight in the tail.
Would you recommend a P-70 or a P-80?

If it's your first jet, the p-70 will do fine. The p-80 will work as well but will be faster. I'm using an AMT 180 w/20 lbs of push. It's pretty fast. As far as a winter project, you will need another jet. The build is a few nights in the shop.

Yep, that's the problem with today's ARF's... they are a real bargain, but if you're looking for a "project", there's not a lot that's left to do.

I can strongly recommend the Wren SS for this application. Its very light and small at 18lb thrust. I am flying an SS in a 22lb plane and it does great. Ron's customer service is unsurpassed at Wren USA. It will power most any of the 15-25 pound class birds. Wren is growing mainline with the opening of Wren USA this year. I can personally attest to its reliability.

Hi Digitech
Can you explain the differece in their flight characteristics? I assume you have flown both planes, with this comment. I`ve only had the Kingcat, so i dont know the difference. btw, which schemes did you have on your Bobcat and your Velox?
