Traxxas 4 Tec
I am looking to make my Traxxas 4 tec much faster. Has anybody had any luck getting these cars to run faster. Any suggestions on what type of motor will make this thing run faster?

RE: Traxxas 4 Tec
It depends on how much you would like to spend. Many people are going to newer technology, and using Brushless motors and ESC's. However, they cost $150+, which might be painful for one's wallet.
You could buy a Modified motor, Like a 19 turn motor. Venom has some good priced, modified motors for under $20.
You should also consider better batteries, such as 3800 or 4200 mah battery packs. With the stock electrics in your 4-tec, Nimh will do just fine.
You'll notice some extra speed with a new motor, and better batteries! Have fun! Cheers!

Of course, if you want to go faster brushless is the only answer. But don't forget that the stock differentials on the 4 Tec can't handle that kind of power. If you want high speed running, upgrading to Nitro 4 Tec differentials is a must. There is a write up of the process here.

I use to have the mechanical speed control but I swap that one out because it kept messing up my 4tec so I got a cheap xl5 for right now. I also have a speed gem 17t which is a good motor for just driving around the house. I would say mine goes around 27mph on 6cell 3000 nimh's.
