Default 46" mono HELP

hello, i have a 46" mono with Marine Specialties hardware it had a 25cc home light in it and now i'm putting a 27cc air cooled zenoah in it. it had problems cornering it took wide turns i had it surface but on take off it acted like it was starving for water so i went to sub surface and it helped. now my questions are
1 do i want it to be surface or sub furface with the zenoah?
2 what is the ballance point?
3 how deep should my rudder be?

i just want it to be done right the 1st time
thanks,

Starting point...varies by boat, but here;s a place to begin...

1 do i want it to be surface or sub furface with the zenoah? I perfer sub....lots of nice struts out on the market now
2 what is the ballance point? Questionable...somewhere around 28%-33% +/- a few
3 how deep should my rudder be? Try about 3"

These are starting points only, run it and try adjusting from there. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

wide turns? could be your rudder servo isnt strong enough? or a number of other things, did you try turn fins? those help a lot on a mono.sub or surface shouldnt make any difference as regards turning, you should be able to get either to turn equally in my opinion.Post a few pics of your transom setup so we can see what were dealing with and we can maybe spot the problem.

I was going to say your problem was the bend in your pushrod but in the other pic i see its been changed?.Maybe try a longer rudder and soem turn fins? as it does look a short rudder blade you have?.How far below the prop is your rudder that could be your problem maybe.

That might be a tad too shallow especially in a left turn as there will be very little rudder in the water when she leans over, ive allways had mine so i have at least 2" bellow the prop it will be interesting to hear what everyone else thinks.Im sure it will be ok for right turns so that might not be your only reason for the wide turns,id get a longer rudder and also install some turn fins.Your setup should have two rudders correct? try installing the other see if that helps before you go with a longer one .
