RE: Any turbine boat forums here on RCU?
Hi Matt,
Will JC have a boat gearbox for the smaller 14lb turbines? Pretty sure I have not seen one yet from them.
Ive asked this question of other turbine guys and havnt had an answer but do you know if the turbine wheel can stand the temperature shock of cold water? Would love a turbine boat but I'm worried about the turbine being able to take a splash or worse and the cost to rebuild everytime a little water gets to it.
Thanks

Hello VENOMOUS,
JetCat has a new dedicated marine unit, it is rated for 10 HP with an integrated water cooled gearbox.

As for the kind of damage that can occur in an RC marine application, I cannot speak from direct experience. I do know, however, that this (turbines) is a huge segment of RC boating in Germany and there has not been (to my knowledge) an unusual reaction to this technology (in other words if normal RC boating killed a turbine easily it would have never gotten this big).
