How to use CA
When building a stick kit you cut the balsa and lay them on the plans and pin them. To glue them with Med CA or thin CA do you just apply the CA on the outside of the joint or do you unpin and apply to the end of the balsa and make the joint?

well, i normally use medium for this, on the joining part before fitting.
however, joining and then letting thin CA wick in seams to work just as well.
as for the pinning part, dont pin through the wood, but 45 degree either side of it to hold it down, this also allows you to put a drop of medium on the end before sliding it back in to place. if you cant push it because its glued at each end, it'll be dry by the time you reach for the pins anyway.

Tap when I build I never pin my balsa what I do is take some 1/4 sq and make little short blocks and pin them to the board in strategic locations for example the ribs, where I sandwich the rib between the blocks this will hold the ribs perfectly verticle and i can pop the ribs in and out without fighting pins. this works good for spars too. but on your CA question, if your using thin CA you dont need to unpin anything as it will wick in very good but for med and thick ca you would want to take the part off and apply the glue then set it in place. You dont what to "dam" the glue on them as you just wasting glue and though it aint nothing you adding unnecessary weight.

Thin CA should never be applied to one piece, then stuck to another (ok, maybe there are some rare cases, but for the most part, NO)
The two pieces should be joined and then the thin CA applied to the joint.
However, Medium or Thick CA CAN be applied to one piece then stuck to another.
