Sunglasses
I broke my favorite pair of shades this weekend.
They were a no name brand, but I liked them because the blocked and brightened very well. Better than some more expensive brands.
What are you guys using?

RE: Sunglasses
Been using these for as many years as I can remember. Never had any issues and usually buy a new pair every couple of years. Added bonus, you can snap in your prescription.

RE: Sunglasses
I purchased a set of the model glasses I saw in one of the mags, very comfortable and with interchangeable lenses for different light, they work great and were cheaper than most quality sunglasses. Kevin

I use the NYX Sport glasses:

with the prescription insert:

For the glasses, I use the Amber Brown Lens most of the time. For very bright conditions, I have the Dark Vermilion Lens and the Hunter Orange Lens are awesome for cloudy days.

RE: Sunglasses
Couldn't find anything that worked for me til I got matched up with a pair of ZURICH's at Winnimac last year. They work for me, and don't cost an arm and a leg . . . just an arm.

RE: Sunglasses
Yeah I hear about the Zurichs alot.
Any particular model preferred?
I see solids, gradients, etc.
I wonder what will be best.
I like everything to brighten up around me, while blocking glare.

These are the ones I use Ronnie. They are kind of pricey but these are the best sunglasses I've had. For us who have big faces, they provide excellent coverage around the eye, and you can see perfectly clear!!
The downside, my wife likes to borrow them on Sundays when I usually want to to go out to the field. Yeah, girls diggem. Wives too, unfortunately.
Later bro!

RE: Sunglasses
I've been using Serengetti Drivers with the polarized, gradient lens in the Aviator frames for many years now. They come in medium and large sizes, and this lens type is also available in other (more modern ) frame styles as well.
I don't like the smaller framed glasses as they (to me) block too much of my peripheral vision, so I still use the old school "Large" Aviator frames.
BTW, best flying glasses I ever owned were a long-gone brand called Suntiger...they had an orange-ish UV filtering and and polarized tint that made everything look monochromatic - you had to take them off to see the colors on a sectional - but I SWEAR I could see thermals forming (moisture build-up just at cloud base), long before any cloud was visible! You could also see other sailplanes and traffic far beyond "naked eye" range, especially in hazy conditions.
Barry
EDIT - Just did a Google search, and it appears that Suntiger is still around... http://www.suntiger.com/. Might have to buy another pair.....

RE: Sunglasses
This is what I use. (Costa Del Mar)
They are the best sunglasses I've ever had.
It is what the guys that fish in Florida use for Tarpon fishing where they use the pole to move the boat around shallow areas and look for the fish moving in the water. They really cut the glare back to nothing.
I love them.. If I remember correctly they are around $200.00

Since I am getting old and now wear prescriptions. I had a pair made with Brown polorized lenses. They are as good as my non Rx Serengati or Rayban's. No glare, great defintion. They are from Walmart optical dept. I picked a frame that fit well, pick a color for the lense and gave them my Rx.

RE: Sunglasses
Which color tint lenses do you like best for RC flying? Mine are a gray/brown tint, since that's what my optician recommended. I had to get rid of the polarized ones since I couldn't read my transmitter display with them on.
Also I had my prescription corrected to 20/15 for optimum distance vision.
