Skymaster 1/8th Scale F-16 with Tamjets TJ-100
I flew the Skymaster F-16 with the TJ-100 (100mm fan). The ready to fly weight is 17 pounds. It takes about a circuit for her to get on step. My buddy photographed the first flight and videoed the second flight of the day. On the second flight while setting up for landing the nose gear would not come down. I elected to belly land her in a grass field behind us. She went it nice and slow and landed softly with no damage. High speed pass after the verticle was dopplered at 150mph.

Wow, a bunch of looks but no responses, not even from the Skymaster guys. I don't know if that is good or bad. It seems like Skymaster guys would show an interest, at least from a business prospective (being able to convert their planes gives them opportunity to sell to more customers). By the way, I am turbine waivered and fly turbines also.

Wow very nice mod to the F-16, it seems to fly great, congratulations. Could you put some pics of your install and maybe an explanations of what mods you had to do to install the EDF unit?

Not sure if they would be interested Kirk as they don't offer anything remotely related to EDF for their jets, but none the less a great mod and great performance. Always love watching your mods.

Thanks. It's been a while. I'm back in the same time zone as you. The wife has finished her tour in Hawaii and is starting her next tour at the NAS headquarters in Fort Mead, MD. I'm back working for the software gaint here in the Pacific Northwest. I lost your number but my cell number hasn't changed since last we talked so give me a call.
Later,
Kirk

Thanks. Creating an intake ducting is the hardest part of any conversion and that has already been done by Tam and is readily available for any who may be interested. The new intake ducting comes in three pieces and is sized for the TJ100 fan. The new ducting gets rid of the hump for the nose wheel which provides clean, undisturbed air to the fan.
The original ducting needs to be cut out at the intake lip and the new ducting gets glued to the lip. The fan was mounted to 1/2 inch blocks and these blocks were screwed to the turbine mounting rails. The exhaust tube is made from a piece of rolled up mylar. The exhaust end of the mylar needs to be 72mm in diameter for the TJ100 fan. I removed the equipment tray and the rear most former the equipment tray bolts to so I could place the batteries in this location. This allowed the CG to be set at 140mm from the LE of the wing. That's it. Everything else including the retracts, struts, wheels, and brakes are from Skymaster.
The photos below show the fan installation and the cockpit area. I'll take better photos tomorrow and post them.
