Default 3 speed trans kit for savage X rtr

hay guys.

im trying to install a 3 speed trans kit (unassembled) into my savage X rtr.

Im using the new style trans case, however iv ran into a couple issues so far, and cant seem to search out an answer, maybe someone here can help me..

on the manual it shows that the last gear on the spur gear shaft has a plastic spacer that goes after the 3rd smallest gear, however the pkg didnt come with one, and the one inside my trans case is too long, do we just shave it down to fit? or what?

also the manual shows that 3rd small gear being installed onto the 4 shafts with the groove facing outward, however my gear is only able to install with the inner grove inward... dont know if thats a problem or not, but the plastic spacer dont fit inside the groove anyway...

any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks

Hey WIcked,

As I remember, the shorter spacer that goes on the spur output shaft, came with the kit. I know that I didn't cut the original one down. Looking at the instructions though it doesn't show the spacer as being part of the upgrade parts pack. Those three gears that fit together using the 4 pins are designed to go on to the pins only one way except the center gear. The gear on each end has the hole for the pin drilled smaller, so the pin won't fall out. So starting with the largest gear put all 4 pins in, then slip the center gear on, then the small gear. I think the shorter spacer was in with all the extra plastic parts I had left over from building the truck kit. You'll probably have to call HPI support to get the proper spacer.
