Default c&h ignition on zdz 80

hi there.i just bought a c&h rccexl ignition system for my zdz 80.i want to put the hall effect pick up sensor in the original sensor housing because its the right bolt stance and i don,t want to be drilling holes in my motor. the thought of using a hose clamp to hold the sensor in place is mickey mouse and doesn,t look oem.in the install manual it say,s that most motors run between 28-30 timing before tdc.i would like to use the original mounting place for the sensor.it does fire before tdc,so i,m thinking it should be ok because it,s in the original spot.if anyone that know,s these motors could you please chime in .any info is appreciated.

As I remember on my 80 it was timed just a few degrees before DC. Its been some time ago that I sold mine so you should check with someone like Dick Hanson.
If so your C&H ignition would be seriously slow timed. That needs to be 28 degrees BTDC

If you mount the new sensor where the old one was the timing will be off, ZDZ are timed 3mm Before top dead center, The RCxel has to be timed at 28-30 deg before top dead center.

Yes you must move the sensor. SO now you have 3 choices. Drill and tap, hose clamp (with the cowl and spinner on you can't see the clamp), or bolt on the sensor and have a poor running engine.
A bolt on ZDZ timing kit is on our Round Toit list. Anybody want to give up their engine for 2 months for us to develope the timing kit?[:@]
