I'll start it off:

Which engine is more powerful? The .15FE or the .12SS?

Default HPI RS4SS

I have a couple of items to post, I might as well do it with one shot.

Anybody have experience using a 3 shoe flywheel and clutch, what is the compatible brand and part numbers ?

I am also considering getting an OS engine with pull start as a back up engine for my kit, can anybody suggest an OS engine model number (.12 or .15). It should not be less than 1.0 bhp @ 30,000++ rpm, or perhaps the power should not less be less than the HPI ss engine.

Thanks for the response/s

The 12SS is the more powerful of the two.

15FE = .56hp
12SS = 1 hp or so

higher compression ratios, differant porting,etc......
yes i agree the .12ss is more powerful than the .15fe.
my opinion is that the .15fe are junk but they are dependable

That seems to be the deal with most .15 motors.
Mabey the fantom .15 is different, people seem to like it.
But a good race legal .12 Like an mr-12 will take a so-so
.15 any day of the week!!

flore re-read this post and there is a plink to a pic of it in post #11.

since hpi has been grouped in with the bashers like the tc3/ld3/4-tec, i wonder why they didnt make it shaft driven.

i wonder if this will really compete with the mugens,serpents and such.

i like hpi parts support, but im not interested in belt driven on-road.

i wonder if they will still make the rs4 in some form or just make the r40 from now on.

I don't think they will stop makeing the Rs4.They still need some kind of RTR to stay competitive in the market.Maybe they will make the Type SS an RTR and do away with the Rs4 3 RTR since they are almost the same car but hopefully they will still offer it in kit form.

Packfan....I read that its not shaft driven because its to hard to balance the weight when the fuel tank gets low....it would have to sit on one side or the other if it was shaft driven.
