Intake requirements and other inquiries
Would like to know what the minimum area intake requirement is for the P120.
This project is an F-20, so I would also like to know if there are any considerations with respect to being on the minimum side and then spliting that into a twin intake.
Secondly, what are the pros and cons of intakes "too-big", if any?
Sorry if this subject has been up before.

I'm doing something different with the intakes for my big Panther in order to move the engine forther foward for CG reasons. I get very varying opinions as to whether I'm going to have problems with it or not - there doesn't seem to be that much quantitative knowledge around about intakes and the effect of their shape/size on engine performance. In Kamps' book, he says that the airframe intake area need only be 80% of the area of the engine's actual intake and that the shape is not at all critical. That's about all I've been able to find...

that is some great information, thanks alot. I may in fact bay be making more out this issue than will actually be a concern. This plane is turning into a fun project, will be interesting to compare with Iron Bay when they go ahead and do R and D for this jet to come back out to the market place, with all the upgrades required to run it with a turbine. In the mean time, taking notes and preparing for the winter build time.
