Default Picco burning up cluches?

I recently put a picco on my savage and it is bad ass, but it is quickly shreading the three finger cluches. Also seems like the cluches are not completly locking up ,and you can barely hear it shift when making a hard pass. What can i do to fix this problem. I want to make sure iam getting every bit of power out of this thing and ... RUN IT TILL ITS TONGUE HANGS OUT...

You must have something mechanically failing, like a clutch bearing or too much end play. I have been running Picco power for quite some time now and the only clutches I had trouble with were when the bell gets out of alignment. Are you using the Hpi aluminum shoes and springs? They have been excellent, but I ran the composite shoes too and liked them. The plastic shoes will not hang. Bud

I just got a set of dynamite max life clutch shoes. I've heard tons of good things about them. Never heard they wear fast either. Everyone said they have little to no wear. I got them for 18 bucks at my LHS. Matched with some mugen 1.0 springs. Also you might want to get some boca clutch ceramic clutch bearings. Best set of bearing ive ever had.

I am using stock plastic shoes. Sounds like aluminum is the way to go. Whats with the 1.0 springs and what will it do for me?

The aluminum shoes are very light compared to the composite shoes. Being lighter, they have less centrifugal force at at any given rpm, so you need a lighter spring. If you put a composite spring on an aluminum shoes, your engine would be screaming before the clutches engaged. The Hpi spring set up is very good as are their shoes. The shoes and springs are designed to fit your clutch nut and flywheel pins, so you do not run into the shoes wanting to scoot off the nut or into the dragging on the clutch bell problems. I just dressed up a set last week that had over three gallons on them behind my modded Picco. Every once in a while you need to knock the burrs off the edge of the aluminum shoes, but this was the first time I had to do that with the Hpi shoes. Bud

Actually I was talking about the ones they are pulling from the XL trucks and selling on Ebay. Make sure you get the Hpi and not the Integy.
