Has anyone tried running this engine? Its supposed to be an overbore design with 52cc available. price is quite attractive at hobbycity for under $170/-.

As much as it is getting advertised, it seems that someone must have ordered one by now. There sure is an alphabet soup of Chinese and other motors out there right now, and I know I can't keep up with all of them...

Well, I couldn't resist it anymore.I hit the pay button, the feedback on the site was encouraging. If it turns out to be a dud, at least I'll be able to salvage the rcexl ignition system and made in japan walbro carb and a few nuts and bolts!

I also ordered one, should arrive next week, I'll run it and report back. This will be my fourth China engine, only the DL 50 was a plug and play engine with no issues. The others required some work but all were worth it in the long run. Hamman

I reckon with my stocks in danger of heading for that end of the rainbow, I might as well treat myself to some cheap fun! The possible loss is but an iota of the most probable hit I'll be taking! looks like I'll be working longer than I thought- I'll have to scrap my retirement plans of spending idyllic weekends with beer in hand and a plane in the sky for the time being.

If you don't suddenly run out and sell the stocks things should be ok in a few more months. Those that panicked and sold when the market started tumbling fell for the ploy big time.
Gotta stay away from that brown "gold", unless you're the one that owns the porta potti company.

Has anyone used an alternative muffler to the stock one supplied?? ie: (Inverted Pittts Style muffler )
Will a DA50, DL50, etc.... solution work on the TGY52 or are they different ??
I'm seriously contemplating one of these motors but would prefer to use an Inverted Pitts style muffler
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am interrested in this engine as well.
When you get it would you please meassure the hight from the center of the crank to the top of the sparkplugcover?
also the distance between the exhaustbolts?
TIA

RE: TGY 52
Just received mine today.First looks are positive. The crankcase is cnc turned and looks well made. The cylinder head too looks well cast and painted. Overall, quite impressive for the price and just by looks alone is a keeper.
Tom for your queries-
Exhaust bolt distance is 42.5mm apart. Is there any alternative muffler for this? The muffler is the only thing that doesn't look that well made.
Distance between shaft centre and plug cap is about 130mm.
Footnote-
Tried the inverted pitts muffler for the DA50- does not fit as it contacts the rear fins.
Secondly, tried the supersonic inverted pitts muffler for the ZDZ50NG- looks like it will fit although you will need to widen the hole spacing by a mm or so which shouldn't be an issue other than the price of the muffler is more than half that of the engine!!

RE: TGY 52
hi Togatoga,
Thanks!
I am planning on using it in a 1/4 scale Fokker Dr.1. The inside diameter of the cowl is 26,3mm, so it is going to be a very close fit!!

RE: TGY 52
Would it be possible for you to take some more measurments? Such as:
-the lenght from the back side of the propeller to the backside of the cylinder
-the minimum lenght of the stand-offs
Hope you can help me on this one, I can not find any dimensions on this engine!

Distance from prop end to end of mounting lug is 132mm.No standoffs provided! To clear the back of the fins would require another 10mm at the most. I will be using 20mm standoffs that I have . Pics below. They run these engines before packing them and you can see that the exhaust has traces of gasket material and the smell of gasoline.Carb however doesn't look like its walbro , it has the initials HL IC.

If they are like the FTL 45 it will have the same bolt pattern as G 62
