RE: CRRC 26 or SPE 26 or RCGF for a AW Yak 120??? The best one??
I personally bought the RCGF26cc.Ive been reading the forums for awhile and taking in all the info i could. From what i have learned and from what i have found[also from side by side comparisons from pics on RCU.],The SPE and the MLD are the same engine. As TKG just mentioned they are the same weight.Supposiblly they had to change the name because of some poor qualitys, one of them power. As TKG just mentioned in the previous post. But if you check the internet the actual name of the manufacturer is MLD.So far the RCGF specs beat these 2 mentioned.Go look at the RCGF thread for more info on what people are actually getting for RPMS on there engines.I am very pleased with mine so far and i just have about a half gallon through it.I cnt really say what rpms, idle, ect because its still breaking in.Best thing to do is keep reading just the threads on the engines your interested in,forget the rest so you dont overload your brain, then just make a decision.Everybody has a favorite.

Cermark, they have the SPE and the MLD right next to one another.Thats the only one i know of so far.I think they just changed the cylinder shape some, that was what i heard. The exhaust outlet and muffler are the same, intake port and intake manifold are same. And it looks like the case is the same.It looks like they just changed the cylinder some.
Heres a few more:
mldengine.com
abellhobby.com
himodel.com of china sells both of them from the same website.

The only experience i have so far is bench running it a little to break it in while im finishing the plane.Im finishing a scratch built Cap232.[Basiclly].The wings, stab surfaces are covered foam. The fuse buitl up.Bought it froman auction already started for $25.00.I have the canopy but no cowl and havent been able to find one the right size anywhere to fit.Should end up about 9-10lbs.Ill have to recheck with the RCGF26 and now i have primered it.Go check out the RCGF thread.Lots of great info.

I have a SV26 in my 1/4 Extra 330L and it flies great. With a 16x8 prop it's turn about 8500+ RPM. And that's with only about 1/2 gallon thru it at 25:1 mix.
Of course this is my only gas engine, so I guess you can call that biased. The one thing I really like is the rear mounted carb. Now the one thing I hate is, there is no choke, but not really needed.

If it were me MVVS 26 , or Evolution 26 - same motor , on the full length quiet pipe. I haven't found anything else that comes even close.

I was looking at the RCGF for my 140 Giles 202. It weighs much less than most gas motors that size. Now I see the MLD-28S weighs less and has a little more power, according to the specs anyway. I will wait for some input from people using them that are not distributors. There is a long thread here on the RCGF. Users have said the specs are conservative. The gap between the two may be very small. More reports from users of the MLD are needed.

If you piped this same setup, and could pull off 10 grand on the same prop, problem solved, completely. Or, if you lose some AUW...either way.

The yak 1.20 has just under a grand in wing area, and 'IF' it comes in at 10 lbs, with a 26-28cc engine/standard in cowl muffler, that can spin a very good wood or carbon 18x6 prop at 9 grand, you'll do IMAC maneuvers just fine, but snappy 3d response from hover will lag a bit. If you are becomming comfy with 3d, this would work. But any need for instant recover power won't be there like it could be.

You're absolutely correct regarding the quality of information. Clarification: SPE-26 (http://www.cermark.com/products/SPE%...ne-Engine.html) and MLD-28 (http://www.cermark.com/products/MLD%...ne-Engine.html) are absolutely different engines. In fact, the USA version of the MLD-28 has just been released a few days from Cermark (http://www.cermark.com/products/MLD%...ne-Engine.html).
Oh, people can check out the MLD engine site too at www.mldengines.com.
Peace,
Steven Chao,
Cermark.

I just ordered the SV26 from RCShowcase. The reason I went with this engine is that it's rear carb and it comes with a pitts muffler. It will fit in the Goldberg Ultimate's cowl without any cuts on the side. Every other engine I looked at has a side muffler or side carb and/or both. Not to mention that RCShowcase has been around along time and I've done business with them before.

RE: CRRC 26 or SPE 26 or RCGF or MLD28 for a AW Yak 120??? The best one??
Jim, the only ones I have direct experience with are the G26 and 3w28. Both are outstanding engines for their displacement. The 3w will spin a larger prop happier than the G26, and the G26 will spin the smaller prop faster and happier than the 28...in my experience. I know that some of the newer engines coming to the market are starting to prove they can perform similarly, though I have no direct experience supporting this. Thats why my tips referred to and engine that can spin specific props/rpms/and AUW, since really this is what it all comes down to....thrust to weight ratio, within a given wing loading to maintain good flying characteristics.

I like the rear carb of the SV 26 but the specifications say 3lbs 6oz I think is much for an acrobatic plane, all other are 1 lb less.
