Default Kangaroo....where to buy one?

Hello to all Jet flyers,
I have a RAM 500 that is freshly tuned up from RTI, I need a easy flying airframe like the Kangaroo to put this motor in. Currently it is in a JHH A7, but the motor makes this plane weigh to heavy. Does anyone know where I can get the Kangaroo?

thanks......God bless,
Perry

Not enough motor for a roo. You will hate it. You could put it on the falcon 120, that might be an ok match. .

I fly my roo quite well with a P-70.....Remember it was designed around a P-80 which at the time had about 17 lbs of thrust....unfortunatly they do not make the Roo any longer : (

You could use that RAM 500 on a Feibao Velox or a Modellbau-usa Tango...

I have flown a Roo 2 (composite wing) with a T-500 (same as RAM 500) and it flew very well with an AUW of 14 lb. The original Roo might likely be heavier and not so suitable, so make sure you pick up a Roo 2 with the composite wing if your keen on the Roo. By the way I reckon the Roo 2 and "Rookie" are still one of the best turbine transition to fast jet airframes available.

Cheers- Marty

Not true, Roo 2 with WREN 54 flys well, Rookie with RAM500 also flys well. Little longer take off roll but that is about all-Less residual thrust slows down better. Scott

Composite ARF.com still shows then on their web site. Or I bet if you put a want add in the Jet classifed want add section you would find many guys with them in various states from new in box to in need of total rebuilding. The web site says they sold like 3000 or more of these. There must be hundreds and hundreds still around. Good luck

My first Kangaroo was the wood and foam wings. I covered them and the fins with Ultracote and used a RAM750 detuned to 13lbs of thrust and it flew great. My Kangaroo was only 13.5lbs dry with spring air retracts, and a pop bottle fuel tank.

Hello Jetffx,

No problem, you can buy a Rookie 2 at Composite ARF or the Harpoon 2 at Graupner.
Both are similar and made by CARF.
Great flyers with a small turbine and of course better with a bigger one.

Harpoon 2 is not made by C-arf , but made by extreme composites in the same country[:-]

I used to fly Richard Newman's original Roo with an original RAM 500. Flew just fine, plenty of authority. No, it did not have unlimited vertical, but fleww fine off of a grass runway. I have an old Roo if you are interested. PM me.

I am flying a Baby Boomer with a T-500 and it is a good match. I would suggest it over the Roo anytime. Bob

I think Comp ARF should come out with an Ultra Roo! 30% bigger, or so. That would be neat!
But I agree, some sort of Boomerang might be a good way to go Perry, if you can't find a Roo.

My experience has been that the RAM 500 will do just fine. My first ROO was powered by the 500 and flew well. Even added a home made smoke system and still got into the air with no problem.
Crashed it at Rabbit Dry Lake two winters ago. Followed that with a Rookie fuse, added the 500 and it's flying actually somewhat faster than the Roo did due to the enclosed engine compartment on the design of the Rookie I'd say. (RTI worked on the 500 two years ago and all who have seen it fly say it's the best flying Rookie/500 combo they have seen.) Added the smoke system with two 14oz. tanks and although it's heavy on takeoff when it gets going it is a kick and speed is not wanting for this particular RAM 500.
That being said, I'd agree with those prior comments and recommend the Boomerang for a first jet.

Good Luck,

John E.

I am really considering the new Boomerang Elan jet. Alan emailed me and said a RAM 500 would be just fine with this engine. So after the Christmas buying is over, I am gonna give them a call. I might even post a build thread.........if I get the time. I am flying a Citation II for Childrens Med. Ctr of Dallas. And when I'm not on call for them, I'm still wrenching for the worst airline in the industry.....see if you know what airline I'm speaking of.
God bless, and Merry Christmas,
Perry

I just bought the Boomerang XL and am waiting the big truck to arrive, with the special pricing on the XL2 you might consider it's alot cheaper than the Elan. Just have to buy a bigger turbine.
