Default DL-50 Question

I am done breaking in my DL-50 with 32:1 Lawn Boy Ashless, and I'd like to know if i can safely use 80:1 synthetic oil in it. The reason i ask i so i can just stick to one gas can, and use the same mix that i use in my 3W , instead of lugging 2 gas cans around??

DL says you can use synthetic at 45:1 after break in.

DL says you can use Amsoil Saber 100:1 after break in. Just like DA.
Why being so greedy with oil? If you use synthetic oil you don't carbonate the engine like using petroleum based oils. More oil never hurts. Your engine just thanks you with prolonged life span. I run all mine with a minimum of 40:1, some even richer. Just because you can run it lean on oil doesn't mean it is a good thing to do.

I havn't used Amsoil but I do use another brand synthetic that mixes at 114:1. If I go much below 80:1 It gets kinda stiff when starting it up after sitting a day or more. The 100:1 mixes probably start with a high viscosity base (mine does) so going much below say 75:1 with 100:1 Amsoil might not be such a good thing. I'm happy and convinced mine gives me piece of mind mixed at 80:1, and there is a slight power increase and crispness to throttle response over mixing at 114:1. These synthetic companies are in a contest to have the oil that protects at the highest ratio possible, a bit more oil can't hurt. And just in case the company is full of b.s. you are protected.

I agree. I like 20:1 on two cycles. I used to run Castrol two cycle oil in a Kawasaki 500 and when I'd pull the cylinder head I could wipe out the carbon residue with lacquer thinner and a paper towell back to bare aluminum. I'm sure the oil injection system was delivering much less than a 20:1 mix though.

I agree with Jim; I like the smell of Bacon Grease in the morning so I am going to go to Blue Ribbon at 32:1 for a little extra smell.

I'm with ya although I'd prefer some Single Barrel Jack mixed in mine.

Actually I was wrong. I went to DL USA and they say 45:1 is the max.

I believe I was thinking of the Area 51. That engine's instructions say Amsoil 100:1 after break in.

Yeah the manual says 45:1 and the FAQ says 100:1, then 85:1.

And you're right it's 3 oz of oil to 2 gallons for an 85:1 mixture: 128/85 = 1.5oz per gallon, or 3oz per 2 gallons.
